Role Description The Insurance Unit Manager is a full-time, hybrid role based in Lagos, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. This role is responsible for leading and supervising an insurance unit, setting performance targets, monitoring results, and coaching team members to achieve sales and service objectives. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing policy underwriting and administration, ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements, and providing guidance on complex insurance cases. The manager will collaborate closely with sales, finance, and operations teams to drive unit profitability, improve customer satisfaction, and optimize processes. Additional responsibilities include preparing performance reports, supporting staff development through training and mentoring, and representing the unit in internal meetings and strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in Insurance, including products, underwriting, claims processes, and regulatory requirements.
- Solid Finance skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, manage budgets, and understand profitability drivers.
- Proven Team Management experience, including supervising staff, setting goals, providing feedback, and supporting performance improvement.
- Demonstrated Customer Service skills, with a track record of building trust, resolving issues promptly, and maintaining high satisfaction levels.
- Sales skills and experience, including meeting targets, developing sales strategies, and supporting the team in identifying and closing opportunities.
- BSC/HND in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field; professional insurance certifications are an advantage.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and sound judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
- Comfort with digital tools, insurance management systems, and data-driven decision-making; prior experience in a tech-enabled or innovative insurance setting is beneficial.
