Position Information Position Overview The Integration Architect owns the technical direction of the integrations for the solution lane leading technical strategy, developing architectural patterns for project teams, and reviewing solution designs for performance, security, testability, cost and maintainability. This role mentors engineers on solution design, champions technologies that advance the product vision, engages shared services groups at the right time, and influences work across multiple teams to keep delivery aligned with the overall technical strategy. This role is located in Nashville, TN and requires 3 days a week in our Capitol View Office Key Responsibilities You will be responsible for adhering to all HealthStream security policies, procedures, and assigned training. Leadership: Mentor others on solution design and employing architectural patterns. Lead technical strategy conversations. Work with necessary groups to develop patterns utilized by project teams for solution development that fit with our overall technical strategy. For an entire solution lane, ensure the technical aspects of solution designs are reviewed and approved considering: Operational costs (both one-time and ongoing maintenance) Use of existing patterns Performance Testability Maintenance plans Internal and external documentation Implementation concerns Security Ensure that any technical shared services groups that need to sign-off on solution design have been engaged at the appropriate time and understand the design completely Champion the use of AI productivity tooling and provide leadership on the effective use of these tools within a solution group Operational/Troubleshooting: Translate technical details of project work to audiences in a way that is appropriate and relatable to that audience Proactively determine operational issues and identify gaps in monitoring to ensure customer delight. Consult with teams on implementation complexities as they relate to other teams’ existing or known future work. Communication: Influence project work of multiple teams to ensure alignment with technical strategy Champion technologies that will improve our ability to deliver products aligned with our vision and mission Competency: Possess a solid grasp on functionality within business segment and cursory knowledge of all products outside of business segment. Able to balance multiple concurrent projects while delegating tasks at an appropriate level Able to effectively communicate with those outside of the immediate team to collaborate and coordinate on common concerns Actively breaks down silos and fosters a team spirit by referencing successes and failures in collective terms rather than by individual, function or role. Able to think through options when faced with challenges that need guidance and present those options to leadership with related pros and cons Exhibit appropriate attention to time management, professional conduct and adherence to corporate policies Qualifications Requirements A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any discipline), or closely related field of study is preferred. At least 7+ years of experience as a Senior Developer, Senior Software Engineer, Associate Architect or closely related occupation including 3+ years designing enterprise integration solutions. Deep expertise in integration technologies, including REST/SOAP APIs, message queues and event streaming, ETL, file-based exchange, and authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth2, SAML, mTLS). Demonstrated experience defining and governing API strategy, including versioning, deprecation, and contract standards (REST/OpenAPI, webhooks) including experience with API management platforms Proven ability to establish and apply reusable integration patterns (API-led, event-driven, batch/file transfer, middleware/iPaaS) and to guide teams on their appropriate use. Strong command of integration design principles, including idempotency, retry/backoff, error handling and dead-lettering, throttling/rate limits, data mapping, and cross-system failure-mode behavior. Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, SCIM, HRIS/roster feeds) as applicable to the product portfolio. Hands-on experience with enterprise integration platforms and engines (integration suites, iPaaS/middleware), including integrating EHR and other healthcare platforms with connected enterprise systems such as ERP is a plus. Working knowledge of data privacy and compliance requirements (HIPAA, PII handling) as they apply to data crossing system and organizational boundaries. Experience evaluating third-party APIs, negotiating technical requirements with vendors and partners, and assessing integration risk during vendor selection. Excellent communication skills, with experience serving as a technical liaison to external partners and customer technical teams during onboarding, certification, and escalations. Proven ability to produce and maintain high-quality external-facing technical documentation, including API references and onboarding guides. Demonstrated knowledge of DevOps best practices including CI/CD and automation. Salary will be determined by the candidate’s level of experience and qualifications. Compensation will be commensurate with skills, relevant experience, and performance in similar roles.
