Major, Lindsey & Africa’s client has an immediate need for an Interim Construction Counsel Overview: Our client seeks a skilled, Interim Construction Counsel for a 6-month assignment Company: Our client is a well-respected wholesale supply chain services company Experience: Successful candidates will have at least 8 years of relevant experience Location: Remote with some travel to Temple, Texas (outside Austin, TX) Job Summary The client is looking for an experienced practical, business-oriented Commercial Construction attorney to support a broad range of projects across the client’s Distribution Center and Facilities business teams (DC&F) This role will be instrumental in helping the client manage a significant backlog volume of construction-related legal matters, support operational projects, and develop more efficient contracting processes. Job Responsibilities: Draft and negotiate construction agreements of all sizes, master services agreements, engineering agreements, facilities maintenance and repair contracts, CapEx project agreements, and vendor/subcontractor agreements. Support distribution center infrastructure projects ranging from routine site work (sidewalk repair, pest control, rack repair/replacement) to full build-outs requiring grading and hauling, steel, HVAC, conveyor systems, and other specialty trades. Advise on risk associated with integration of disciplines on an active project site, including outage/forced-downtime exposure and how repair or maintenance work interacts with ongoing facility operations. Evaluate incoming contractor proposals and counsel the business on which vendors or structures better manage risk. This is a substantive construction role, not procurement or sourcing support. Partner directly with Engineering, Construction, Development, Facilities and business stakeholders. Requirements: J.D. and active bar license in good standing. 8+ years of construction contracting experience Substantive construction contracting background. Comfortable with subcontractor construction issues and multidiscipline projects. Working knowledge of facilities and infrastructure operations. Ability to operate independently and manage a live backlog from day one. BONUS: Construction attorney who also has taken on real estate issues including leasing, easements, and encumbrances post-build-out for a customer. Additional Insights Logistics, warehousing, or distribution center environments strongly preferred. Manufacturing, utilities, or energy infrastructure development backgrounds are also a strong fit given the heavy engineering component.
