Every day, millions of Australians connect, work, stream, and stay in touch on the Optus network. When it works seamlessly, it’s easy to take for granted. But behind it is a team making thousands of decisions every day - decisions that keep people, businesses and communities connected.

Right now, Optus is focused on getting the fundamentals right - simplifying how we work, lifting standards, and building a more reliable, resilient experience for our customers.

It’s not about surface-level change. It’s about how we make decisions, how we work together, and how we deliver.

As the Internal Audit Practice Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Chief Audit Officer and Internal Audit leadership team to operate a high-performing, well-governed Internal Audit function. You will oversee audit planning, scheduling, governance and reporting activities, ensuring Internal Audit delivery is effectively coordinated, progress is transparent, and reporting is accurate and timely. This role also drives continuous improvement initiatives and manages the preparation of Board Audit Committee and management reporting, helping ensure the function operates efficiently, consistently and in alignment with governance requirements.

The Day to Day

  • Coordinate and manage Internal Audit planning, scheduling and delivery activities, ensuring audit engagements, follow-up actions and reporting milestones are tracked and delivered against the approved audit plan.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate dashboards, management reporting and performance insights, providing visibility of audit progress, key risks, overdue actions, resource capacity and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Project manage the end-to-end preparation of Board Audit Committee, Singtel and management reporting, ensuring papers are high quality, governance requirements are met and deadlines are achieved.
  • Support Internal Audit resource planning and operational effectiveness by coordinating audit allocations, resolving scheduling conflicts, monitoring capacity constraints and maintaining delivery governance.
  • Drive continuous improvement across the Internal Audit function by enhancing reporting processes, leveraging data and technology solutions, and fostering a culture of collaboration, professionalism and operational excellence.

What You Bring

  • Experience in Internal Audit, risk, compliance, governance or business operations, with demonstrated expertise in practice management, planning, scheduling and operational coordination.
  • Proven ability to manage executive, committee and Board-level reporting processes, delivering high-quality outputs while coordinating multiple stakeholders and competing deadlines.
  • Strong skills in performance reporting, project management, governance oversight and quality assurance, with the ability to analyse information and provide meaningful insights to support decision-making.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities, with a proven ability to influence, collaborate and build effective relationships across senior leadership teams and governance forums.
  • High attention to detail, professional integrity and proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaboration tools, enabling accurate reporting, effective coordination and continuous improvement of processes and reporting practices.
  • Experience gained within a Big 4 consulting firm (Deloitte, PwC, EY or KPMG) in audit, risk, governance, assurance or practice management environments will be highly regarded.

The good stuff

  • Competitive remuneration and colleague discounts. Make life easier (and more affordable) with $80 monthly credit and 25% off Optus products and outstanding shopping discounts with our retail partners.
  • Flexible working arrangements with opportunities to work three days in the office, two days remote or home.
  • Vibrant and collaborative office campus that includes cafes, convenience store, chill out zones, GP, post office, gym, and on-site childcare centre.
  • Competitive leave policies, including additional 'Connected’ days to focus on culture, family, health, community, or whatever’s important to you.
  • We support growing families with inclusive, carer-neutral paid Parental Leave of up to 16 weeks.
  • Build meaningful connections through colleague-led networks and diversity initiatives including Culture Connect, Elevate Women, Disability Network, and Express Yourself (LGBTQIA+).
  • Put your wellbeing first with free access to counselling and support services, 24/7 — in-person, by phone, SMS, or video.
  • Free Optus bus from Macquarie University Metro Station (every 6-8 minutes); morning and afternoon. Join us for an outstanding career opportunity!
