Job Title: Internal Communications Manager

Compensation: $120,910 - $151,410 Annual Salary

The base salary or hourly wage range for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. About the Role:

The Manager, Internal Communications owns the internal communications strategy and team member engagement experience for Din Tai Fung's restaurants and RSC. Reporting to the Director of Corp Affairs, Comms & SR, the role builds and manages the enterprise editorial and events calendar, produces and oversees content across email, intranet, digital signage, and chat, and designs engagement around key moments and leadership forums. The role partners with Operations, People & Culture, and Marketing to reach a diverse, dispersed, and largely frontline workforce, contributes to issues management and crisis communications, and measures and reports on communication effectiveness to continuously improve impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Internal Communications Strategy & Editorial Calendar — Own the internal communications strategy and the enterprise editorial and events calendar, ensuring consistent, targeted, and effective communication and team member engagement. Partner with internal stakeholders to gather insight on company initiatives and team member experience, and translate it into innovative communication and engagement plans.
  • Content Development — Write, edit, and produce internal communications materials, including emails, articles, newsletters, video scripts, digital and print signage, web content, and chat messages. Translate complex or dense information into clear, digestible, operator-friendly messaging that reaches a diverse, dispersed workforce.
  • Channel Management & Delivery — Oversee delivery of internal communications across email, intranet, digital signage, and chat, ensuring high-quality, on-time execution. Explore and implement new methods of content distribution and team member interaction, including ways to reach team members with limited access to traditional channels.
  • Team Member Engagement & Key Moments — Partner with the Director, Communications, VP, Marketing, and People & Culture to design, implement, and continuously improve the team member engagement experience across communications, internal events, key moments (e.g., AAPI Heritage Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, Black History Month, Hispanic Heritage Month), and internal engagement platforms.
  • Events & Leadership Forums — Plan, coordinate, and support team member events and leadership forums, including Town Hall meetings, Directors Meetings, offsites, roundtables, and Learning & Development activities.
  • Restaurant Operations Partnership — Serve as a key communications partner to Operations, building working knowledge of restaurant operations and aligning communication with operational excellence goals. Work with operational leaders to gather frontline team member feedback and integrate it into communication plans and their implementation.
  • Measurement & Continuous Improvement — Define and monitor communication and engagement metrics, recap key results to leadership, and adjust strategy to maximize impact. Continuously evaluate, streamline, and refine internal communications processes to drive efficiency, clarity, and collaboration.
  • Issues Management & Crisis Communications — Contribute to issues management and crisis communications, providing timely, accurate, and effective responses in partnership with the Director, Communications.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate internal communications, employee engagement, or a related field
  • Proven experience communicating to a diverse and dispersed workforce, including team members with limited access to traditional communication channels
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to translate complex or dense content into clear, digestible communications
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage an editorial calendar and to plan and deliver events across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders and operational stakeholders to align messaging and priorities
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 applications

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in restaurant, hospitality, retail, or other multi-location, hourly-workforce environments
  • Experience with crisis communications and issues management
  • Experience using engagement metrics and analytics to evaluate and refine communication strategy
  • Experience managing an intranet, digital signage, or other internal communications platforms
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite

Essential Function:

  • Perform sustained computer-based work, using standard office equipment and communication platforms to write, edit, design, and distribute content
  • Remain in a stationary or seated position for a significant portion of the workday, and move about the office and restaurant locations as needed
  • Communicate effectively in person, by phone, by video, and in writing, including presenting and facilitating at meetings and events
  • Review detailed written content with sustained attention to accuracy, clarity, and consistency
  • Lift or carry up to 25 lbs of event and signage materials
  • Essential functions may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

Special Requirements:

  • 10-15% travel to restaurant locations, offsites, and events. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to support events and time-sensitive communications.
