POSITION SUMMARY - This position is based in Kenya, South Africa, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil or Belgium

The International Compensation Manager supports the design, analysis, implementation, and administration of compensation programs across multiple countries and regions outside the United States. The role helps ensure compensation practices are externally competitive, internally equitable, and aligned with organizational strategy while reflecting local market conditions, regulatory requirements, and operational considerations.

This role partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, and regional and country leaders to provide strategic, data-driven compensation expertise across a globally distributed workforce. The position supports compensation programs, governance, and decision-making to ensure alignment with organizational priorities, business objectives, and CI values. This role reports to the Senior Director, of Total Rewards, based in Arlington, Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct global market benchmarking and job pricing across multiple regions, including emerging and developing markets.
  • Partner with external salary survey providers and other market data sources to analyze compensation trends and inform pay decisions.
  • Monitor global salary movement , inflation, currency fluctuations, labor market conditions, and regulatory developments that may affect compensation programs.
  • Develop and maintain salary structures, pay ranges, and job grading frameworks across multiple countries.
  • Support annual compensation review processes, including salary reviews, annual salary increases, promotions, and market or equity adjustments.
  • Ensure compensation decisions are aligned with organizational philosophy, internal equity, market positioning, and budget parameters.
  • Support job evaluation, classification, and leveling processes to promote consistency across regions.
  • Maintain compensation frameworks, guidelines, and documentation to support governance and consistency.
  • Partner with Finance on compensation budgeting, planning, and workforce-related analysis.
  • Help ensure compensation practices comply with applicable labor laws and regulatory requirements in countries of operation.
  • Maintain policies, processes, and documentation to support governance, controls, and audit readiness.
  • Conduct internal equity, market adjustment, and pay analysis and provide recommendations based on findings.
  • Review compensation-related issues and provide guidance on appropriate solutions and pay recommendations.
  • Analyze compensation data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop reports, dashboards, and presentations to support leadership decision-making.
  • Provide recommendations to leaders based on market data, pay trends, and organizational priorities.
  • Support compensation systems, tools, and technology processes, including testing, reporting, and data validation.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to HR Business Partners, managers, and leadership on compensation-related matters.
  • Support job description maintenance and related documentation as needed.
  • Translate complex data into clear, practical recommendations for a range of stakeholders.
  • Partner with HRIS lead and related teams to support compensation data processes, file validation, and system-related activities.
  • Experience supporting compensation programs in Africa, South America, and Asia-Pacific.

Required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in compensation, with meaningful exposure to global or multi-country programs.
  • Experience working across international markets, including emerging or developing markets, preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel or similar data analysis tools.
  • Experience working with global salary survey providers and market data sources.
  • Knowledge of multi-country compensation practices and applicable regulations.
  • Ability to translate complex or limited data into practical insights and clear recommendations.
  • Ability to speak and write in English; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
  • Ability to work from one of the organization’s field office 2-3 times a week located in Kenya, South Africa, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, or Belgium.

Preferred

  • Experience in a nonprofit, international, or mission-driven organization.
  • Professional certification in compensation, rewards, or human resources (for example, CCP, GRP, CIPD, SHRM-SCP, or similar).
  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed or remote workforces.
  • Knowledge of HRIS platforms, such as Workday or similar systems.
  • Experience working in high-inflation or variable currency environments.
