iOS engineering lead / Senior

Job Description At Sumara Technology, we're building the next generation of mobile experiences for global users. We're seeking an iOS Mobile Engineering Lead to architect and lead our native iOS development initiatives. The ideal candidate has deep experience building scalable iOS applications using Swift and UIKit/SwiftUI, and is passionate about mentoring engineers, establishing best practices, and driving technical excellence. As our iOS Mobile Engineering Lead, you'll lead a growing team of iOS engineers, oversee the architecture of our mobile applications, and ensure we deliver high-quality, performant experiences to millions of users. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies and have the opportunity to make significant architectural decisions that impact our platform. Requirements 6+ years of professional iOS development experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or mentorship role Expert-level knowledge of Swift and proficiency with UIKit and SwiftUI Strong experience building production-grade iOS applications Familiarity with Tuist (preferred) for managing modular iOS projects and boilerplate code Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform for cross-platform development (nice to have) Solid understanding of iOS architecture patterns (MVVM, VIPER, Clean Architecture) Proven experience with networking, concurrency, and performance optimization Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and agile workflows Proficiency with Git and modern version control practices Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively across teams Responsibilities Lead the iOS engineering team, mentoring junior and senior engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and professional development Architect and design scalable iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit best practices Establish coding standards, architectural patterns, and engineering best practices for the iOS platform Oversee the full development lifecycle—from conceptualization through deployment and maintenance Lead technical design reviews and system architecture discussions Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to translate requirements into robust mobile solutions Drive adoption of modern development tools and workflows, including Tuist for package management and boilerplate code generation Ensure application performance, uptime, and scalability while maintaining high standards for code quality Participate in hiring, onboarding, and building a high-performance iOS engineering culture Explore and evaluate emerging iOS technologies and frameworks Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience Market standard EOSB and performance bonuses Comprehensive health insurance Professional development and conference budgets Team building events, career mentorship, and strong company culture Remote work flexibility Location Remote, based in UAE UK-based client with preference for UK hour alignment Sumara will secure UAE visa and work permit Hiring Process Technical interview with our iOS engineering team System design interview and coding challenge Leadership/culture fit interview with founders
