Director of Cloud Engineering

Role Description The Director of Cloud Engineering is a part-time, remote role responsible for leading the design, implementation, and optimization of Turf PG’s cloud-based AI research platforms. This role oversees cloud architecture, infrastructure reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency, while ensuring security and compliance across environments. The Director will guide engineering teams in building and integrating services, setting technical standards, and defining best practices for cloud-native software development. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with product and data teams, reviewing architectural designs, managing cloud projects and integrations, and mentoring engineers to deliver robust, maintainable systems.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Engineering Management and Team Leadership to guide and develop cloud engineering teams.
• Strong Software Development experience in cloud-native environments (e.g., microservices, APIs, containers, serverless architectures).
• Proficiency in Project Management for planning, executing, and monitoring cloud initiatives and cross-functional technical efforts.
• Experience with Integration of distributed systems, third-party services, and data pipelines in modern cloud platforms.
• Deep knowledge of major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and observability tools.
• Background in designing secure, scalable, and cost-optimized cloud architectures for AI or data-intensive applications.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities in remote and cross-functional settings.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
