Imagine launching a brand in Amsterdam, only to see your name pop up on Amazon.de six months later, claimed by someone else. Without the right registration, your hands are tied. Even small mistakes, like the wrong name or class, leave brands exposed. Your mission is to shield brands before imitators strike and to act swiftly when infringement hits.

Our clients are bold entrepreneurs with businesses spanning the Netherlands, Belgium, the UAE, Türkiye, the UK, and the US. They cross borders daily on platforms like Amazon, Bol, Shopify, and TikTok Shop. Their brand is their crown jewel, yet too often, it is left unguarded.

At Suits Finance Group, over 60 specialists unite finance, tax, legal, and formation expertise under one roof, with offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, the UAE, Türkiye, and the Philippines. Now, Suits Legal is searching for a trademark specialist ready to champion IP protection for our clients across the EU and UK.

You will work directly with Isidoro Capuano, LL.M., attorney at law, M&A lawyer, co-founder, and CLO.

Why EU representation matters

A company without a domicile or real establishment in the EEA must be represented before the EUIPO in most proceedings. Many of our clients are based in Dubai, Amsterdam, or Istanbul. They need an EU representative. Since Brexit, UK attorneys no longer qualify. In the UK, the UKIPO requires an address for service in the UK, Gibraltar or the Channel Islands for new filings and oppositions.

What you work on

  • Clearance and filing strategy, including searches, class selection, and filings at the BOIP, EUIPO, and UKIPO. Manage international registrations through the Madrid system, including the UAE and Türkiye.
  • Determine brand ownership, whether by the holding company, operating company, or a separate IP entity. Collaborate with Suits Tax, as this decision affects royalties and transfer pricing.
  • Handle oppositions and cancellations before the EUIPO, BOIP, and UKIPO, including office actions and objections.
  • Manage enforcement actions, including marketplace takedowns through Amazon Brand Registry and other platforms, cease-and-desist letters, customs applications, and counterfeit cases.
  • Oversee portfolio management, including watch services, renewals, and recordables of transfers and licences.
  • Support IP aspects of transactions, including assignments, licences, and due diligence, and assist the CLO with M&A matters.
  • Designs and domain names. EU design registrations and domain name disputes.
  • Coordinate with our US attorney when USPTO protection is required.

What you bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in law, with a specialisation or clear track record in intellectual property. Entitlement to represent before the EUIPO, either as a professional representative on the EUIPO list or as a legal practitioner qualified in an EEA member state. If you are close to qualifying, please indicate your current status.ere you stand.
  • At least 2 years of trademark practice: prosecution, oppositions and cancellations.
  • Experience with Benelux and EU trademark law in daily practice.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. You draft documents for founders, not for other lawyers.
  • Registration as a UK trademark attorney (CITMA or IPReg), or hands-on UKIPO experience, is an advantage, not a requirement.
  • Experience with marketplace enforcement, customs, or e-commerce brands is an advantage, not a requirement.
  • Fluency in Dutch, German, French, Turkish or Arabic is also considered an advantage, not a requirement.

Profile

  • You have built trademark portfolios for companies operating in multiple countries and understand where issues commonly arise.
  • You read a specification and see what it does not cover.
  • You can explain trademark risks to founders without a legal background, clearly outlining the potential costs of inaction in concise terms.
  • You consider broader implications beyond filing, such as brand ownership, valuation, and outcomes during company sales.
  • You work independently and handle complex files with the CLO. Collaboration and discussion are integral to the role.
  • You take ownership of your files from the initial search through to registration and ongoing management.

Your first year

Within your first three months, you will manage the EU filing workflow and review every new client trademark application.

By month six, you will independently handle oppositions, cancellations, and marketplace enforcement. You will also implement a standard IP check for every new formation and transaction.

By month twelve, you will be the primary contact for IP questions across our offices and help develop our UK practice.

What you get

  • Salary ranges from € 2000 to € 3000 per month based on a 40-hour workweek and is dependent on experience.
  • 32 to 40 hours per week.
  • The role is remote.
  • From your very first week, you will take charge of your own files and make an impact for clients in 22 countries.
  • You will play a key role in shaping our dynamic and evolving IP practice.
  • You will report to Isidoro Capuano, LL.M., CLO.

How to apply

Please send your CV, a brief motivation, and your EUIPO representative status (ID number or current status) to ioannis@suitsfinance.com. We will respond within three working days.

The process includes an introduction to Isidoro Capuano, a case interview on a real filing strategy, and an offer.
