About Us
SMS Datacenter is a growing IT MSP for Managed Services, Colocation, Networking, Private Managed Cloud, Security, Help Desk, and other IT services. We are a team of engineers and technicians who tackle new projects, challenges, and issues every day, supporting users’ workstations, infrastructures, and networks so they can focus on succeeding in their own jobs.
About the Position
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented IT Coordinator, Engineering to support our engineering teams.
This role is responsible for tracking engineering commitments, coordinating follow-through, maintaining accurate records and documentation, and ensuring that important tasks, deadlines, and operational requirements do not fall through the cracks.
The ideal candidate is an effective communicator who understands IT infrastructure, can work with technical professionals, and is comfortable following up persistently, identifying problems, and holding others accountable for their commitments.
The Logistics
This is a fully remote, full-time, long-term contract position with opportunities for growth. It will follow a GMT-7 business hours schedule. You may be based anywhere as long as you possess the work ethic, professional qualities, equipment, and reliable Internet needed to work the schedule remotely, respond promptly, and do the job well.
Bilingual English verbal and written communication are required, C1 minimum and C2/Native preferred, as you will be communicating with English-speaking coworkers and customers. Interviews and work will be in English. You must apply with an English resume/CV to be considered for this role.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Director of Engineering, engineering teams, and their managers, helping organize workloads, priorities, schedules, and commitments
- Track and follow up on engineering tasks, tickets, project assignments, deadlines, and other commitments to ensure timely completion, accurate status updates, and proper documentation
- Proactively identify delays, bottlenecks, conflicting priorities, unclear ownership, missing information, and overdue commitments, correcting or escalating issues as appropriate
- Ensure engineers consistently follow established operational procedures, including ticket updates, time tracking, technical documentation, task closure, and internal reporting requirements
- Own documentation of engineering and technical policies, procedures, ticket records, time entries, and other operational information, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Prepare and maintain operational trackers, reports, meeting notes, action items, and other administrative records to radiate information and help decision-making
- Identify opportunities to improve administrative workflows, operational efficiency, accountability, and compliance with established processes
- Perform other related duties as necessary
Qualifications
- Excellent professional English communication skills, both written and verbal (C1 minimum; C2 or native-level proficiency preferred)
- Previous experience in an administrative, executive assistant, operations coordinator, project coordinator, or similar role involving task tracking, deadline management, and consistent follow-through
- Fundamental understanding of IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, systems administration, and common IT terminology
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple competing priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical personnel, ask clarifying questions, obtain commitments, and follow up persistently
- Strong initiative, ownership, judgment, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify issues and act without constant supervision
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, documentation tools, and business productivity software
Preferred Qualifications
- IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cisco CCST, CCNA, or equivalent knowledge
- Experience working in an MSP or other IT services company
- Experience using IT ticketing, PSA, or project management systems
- Experience monitoring operational KPIs, time entries, ticket quality, documentation compliance, or process adherence
You Should Be
- Organized, reliably keeping track of and following up on multiple requests, deadlines, and commitments without requiring repeated direction
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment, managing multiple competing priorities, interruptions, and time-sensitive requests while responding quickly and accurately
- Proactive, recognizing when a follow-up or reminder is needed, and sending it, rather than waiting to be instructed
- A person of good judgment, fleshing out unstated context from information and requests, and determining when to handle a matter independently and when to bring it to the attention of the appropriate person
- Able to communicate effectively and maintain professionalism when dealing with demanding customers, difficult personalities, conflicting priorities, or stressful situations
- Comfortable communicating through email, phone, messaging, and video calls
Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is expected to be $950 USD to $1,875 USD per month based on relevant skills and experience, technical knowledge, English mastery, and geographic location. A highly successful individual in this position will be considered for bonuses, salary raises, and promotions to higher-level positions.
As a contract position, the compensation is inclusive of all payments under the contract and will not include a 13th-month payment or employer-provided benefits. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, healthcare, equipment, and other personal expenses.
