Senior IT Engineer (MSP)
Salary: £37,000–£45,000, plus benefits
Location: Burscough, West Lancashire
Working arrangement: Hybrid working available after probation
About The Company
CRG TEC is supporting a managed service provider (MSP) based in the West Lancashire area with the recruitment of an experienced Senior IT Engineer. The company supports a range of customer environments and delivers technical services across IT support, infrastructure and project work. This is an opportunity to join an established technical team where engineers work across varied technologies and customer requirements, rather than focusing on a single system or type of issue.
About The Role
This is a predominantly third-line support position for an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of complex technical issues and working through them methodically. You will manage escalations across customer environments, provide guidance and support to other engineers, and contribute to infrastructure improvements and project delivery.
The role offers variety across Microsoft cloud services, end-user computing, servers and networking. Your work may include investigating Microsoft 365 or Intune issues, resolving Active Directory or Entra ID problems, troubleshooting Azure services, addressing Windows Server incidents, or diagnosing issues with customer network infrastructure. You will also have opportunities to contribute to projects such as Microsoft 365 migrations, Modern Workplace deployments, server upgrades and wider infrastructure improvements.
As a customer-facing engineer, you will communicate clearly with clients, take responsibility for incidents through to resolution, and maintain accurate, useful documentation. The position is suited to someone who can balance technical investigation with responsive, professional service.
Qualifications
Applicants should have solid experience working in an MSP or a comparable multi-customer IT support environment. You may already be a Senior IT Engineer or Third-Line Engineer, or be a capable Second-Line Engineer who regularly handles escalations and is ready to take the next step.
You should bring a strong practical foundation in Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory and Entra ID, as well as hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune. A good understanding of Azure, networking and general infrastructure troubleshooting will be valuable. Experience supporting technical projects, migrations or infrastructure upgrades is also an advantage.
Alongside your technical capability, you should be organised, comfortable managing competing priorities, and able to explain technical matters clearly to customers and colleagues. Relevant certifications are welcome, but practical experience, ownership and a willingness to keep developing are important.
Responsibilities
The salary range is £37,000–£45,000, depending on experience, with a solid benefits package. The role includes training and certification support to help you build your technical expertise and progress your career. A pension is also provided. The position is based in Burscough, with hybrid working available after successful completion of probation.
Equal Opportunity
CRG TEC and the hiring organisation are committed to fair and inclusive recruitment. Applications will be considered on the basis of relevant skills, experience and potential. All qualified applicants will be treated with respect and without discrimination.
