Role Overview
The IT Manager leads internal technology operations for the organization, reporting to the CISO and managing a small team with latitude to shape the team as work grows. This role owns the function end to end, including budgeting, vendors, hiring, internal platforms, and a designated set of security and compliance controls. Operating with a platform-centric mindset, the role supports and securely accelerates organizational adoption of AI tooling and automated workflows while managing foundational enterprise IT and identity systems.
Role Details
- Employment Type: Full time
- Work Arrangement: Remote (collaboration with teammates centered in the Pacific time zone will be essential)
- Location Eligibility: To be considered for this role, you must reside in one of the following states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Washington.
- Notice: No third-party agencies, please.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the help desk function for a distributed workforce across two primary sites (Washington, USA and Ahmedabad, India) and remote workers globally, establishing service expectations the organization can rely on.
- Administer Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, Intune, Purview, and Defender.
- Oversee identity and access administration, covering onboarding and offboarding, access changes, group and role design, and privileged access controls.
- Manage the endpoint fleet across procurement, build standards, configuration, patching, recovery, and disposal.
- Direct vendors, contracts, licensing, renewals, and assets while conducting third-party risk reviews and maintaining clear visibility into costs and ownership.
- Maintain business continuity for internal systems through backup management, restore testing, and documented recovery expectations.
- Oversee security operations, including vulnerability monitoring and remediation, logging, and an actively rehearsed incident response process.
- Lead system implementations, migrations, upgrades, operational improvement initiatives, and documentation standards.
- Own designated controls supporting ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA obligations, and GDPR compliance, understanding control intent rather than just paperwork.
- Serve as a facilitator and accelerator for organizational adoption of AI tools and user-developed applications, governing access, permissions, credentials, unattended execution, and acceptable use.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field highly desired.
- Progressively responsible IT experience.
- Experience managing small teams, vendors, projects, and technical teams.
- Experience supporting corporate IT infrastructure and business applications.
- Experience leading system implementations, migrations, upgrades, and operational improvements.
- Experience with M365 administration, ISO, SOC, and GDPR required.
- Experience implementing generative AI or automation solutions.
- Fluency with at least one formal control framework, and the judgement to tell a control's intent from its paperwork.
- Ability to demonstrate identity-centered thinking: least privilege, scoped access, risk minimization.
- Hands-on familiarity with modern AI tooling, and an active interest in how fast it is developing.
- When faced with requests that carry risk, an instinct to describe what safe would look like rather than to refuse it or wave it through.
- There is no specific years-of-experience figure; the role suits someone who has run technology operations and a small team somewhere with real compliance obligations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $140,000 - $185, 000 per year depending on experience.
- Benefits: Health insurance, flexible spending account, life and disability insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan investing.
