Java Technical Lead (Order Management Systems / OMS)

Grid Dynamics is looking for an experienced Java Technical Lead with strong hands-on Order Management System (OMS) experience to join a new retail modernization project.

You will help design and implement a modern, API-first OMS solution for a large UK retailer, working with complex integrations across eCommerce, ERP, POS, payments, inventory, and fulfillment systems.

Important: Practical experience with OMS implementation is a mandatory requirement for this role.

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience as a Technical Lead on an Order Management System (OMS) implementation project.
• Hands-on experience with Fluent Commerce, Manhattan, IBM Sterling, Kibo, OneStock, or another enterprise OMS platform.
• Strong Java backend development experience.
• Experience designing and implementing integrations between OMS, eCommerce platforms, ERP, POS, payment systems, and inventory management.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.
• Experience with solution architecture, technical design, and effort estimation.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and collaborate with international stakeholders.
• Advanced English (C1) and availability to work during UK business hours.

Nice to have:

• Hands-on experience with Fluent Commerce (Java SDK, GraphQL API, workflows, and rulesets).
• Experience with commercetools or other eCommerce platforms.
• Knowledge of payment integrations (Adyen or similar).
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Navision.
• Understanding of domain-driven design (DDD) and microservices architecture.

What you'll do:

• Lead technical discovery and solution design for a new OMS platform.
• Define integration architecture across retail systems.
• Assess OMS platform capabilities and identify customization needs.
• Prepare technical documentation and implementation estimates.
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, and international stakeholders.
• Potentially lead the engineering team during the implementation phase.
