Junior Accountant

You'll support the month-end close for a portfolio of growing businesses, handling everything from vendor invoices to bank reconciliations. If you have 1–2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience and enjoy working with cloud tools like QuickBooks Online, this hybrid role offers real responsibility and a clear path to grow your technical skills.

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a modern finance team that supports multiple businesses across their accounting operations. You'll join a team that values accuracy, clarity, and getting things done on time. This is a permanent hybrid role, based EST, working across a portfolio of client businesses where no two weeks are identical.

What you'll do

• Monitor accounts payable, capture incoming bills and receipts accurately, and enter them into QuickBooks Online with correct coding
• Prepare and schedule vendor payment runs for manager approval, keeping AP aging reports current and accurate
• Review and categorize bank and credit card transactions, matching payment processor payouts to deposits and investigating discrepancies
• Perform monthly reconciliations of bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts—finding and fixing issues until everything balances
• Prepare clean, well-organized working papers and supporting schedules for month-end close and external review
• Assist with audit preparation, gathering and organizing supporting documentation as needed
• Own the day-to-day bookkeeping that keeps client reporting on track

What you'll bring

• 1–2 years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience (accounting firm or outsourced finance background is ideal)
• Solid grasp of accounting fundamentals: double-entry bookkeeping, accruals, and the month-end close process
• Comfort with cloud accounting tools—QuickBooks Online or Xero—and Excel
• Strong attention to detail; accuracy matters in this role
• Ability to juggle multiple client deadlines and stay organized
• Clear written and verbal communication
• A degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or related field is a plus

EST hrs (14h00 - 23h00 / 15h00 - 00h00 SAST)

Gross Salary: R20 000 - R32 000 (depending on experience)
