Senior Qualified Accountant

Lantern provides outsourced CFO services to growth companies and is looking for a dynamic and experienced accountant to help expand this area and to help the business with its procedures as it prepares its application for authorisation with the ACCA.

Role Description This is a full-time Senior Qualified Accountant role based in South Africa, offered on a hybrid basis with work from home flexibility and some London visits. The Senior Qualified Accountant will work closely with the two directors to manage day-to-day accounting operations for clients, including preparation and review of financial statements, general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end closing. The role will involve overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management for clients, as well as supporting statutory reporting and tax compliance. The individual will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and corporate officers, to ensure accurate financial information and adherence to relevant regulations. The Senior Qualified Accountant will also provide guidance to other team members and contribute to systems and process improvements in Lantern's financial and reporting systems as it prepares for ACCA authorisation.

Qualifications

• Strong technical accounting skills, including financial reporting, general ledger management, and preparation of statutory financial statements.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to support decision-making for growth-focused and listed businesses.
• Knowledge of corporate governance, compliance requirements, and tax and regulatory frameworks relevant to corporate services.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Excel, and comfort working with financial databases and reporting tools.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail capabilities when reviewing financial data.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, managing priorities and deadlines effectively.
• Recognized professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent) and several years of post-qualification experience in a relevant role.
• Experience within corporate services, listed companies, or growth-oriented businesses will be considered an advantage.
