The Opportunity

AsiaLink is looking for an experienced professional to support our relationships with Chinese shipyards and vessel machinery and equipment manufacturers.

The focus is on establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with relevant companies in Mainland China and acting as AsiaLink's representative and point of contact within the Asian maritime industry.

The areas of interest include:

• Shipyards and shipbuilding
• Marine engines and propulsion systems
• Vessel machinery and equipment
• Shipyard equipment
• Marine electrical and automation systems
• Other specialised maritime machinery, equipment and technologies

Profile

We are looking for someone with:

• Relevant experience in the China maritime sector
• Established professional relationships with shipyards, marine machinery manufacturers or vessel equipment manufacturers
• Strong understanding of the Asian maritime industry and its business environment
• Established industry experience and professional standing
• An independent and entrepreneurial approach
• Ability to develop and maintain business relationships with limited supervision

Experience with shipyards, shipbuilding, ship repair, marine machinery, propulsion, vessel equipment or maritime technology is particularly relevant.

Existing relationships with senior decision-makers within shipyards and maritime manufacturing companies are highly relevant.

The Role

The role covers the identification and engagement of relevant Asian shipyards and manufacturers, relationship building, ongoing communication and local representation of AsiaLink and its partners.

The successful candidate will be expected to identify suitable companies, establish contact with relevant decision-makers, cultivate and maintain relationships on behalf of AsiaLink, and keep AsiaLink closely informed of their capabilities, interests and commercial priorities.

Structure

This is an independent, performance-based position with no fixed salary.

The successful candidate will join AsiaLink as Junior Partner – Maritime, Chinese Mainland, with scope to develop the role over time.
