Junior Software QA Tester

Location: Remote, based within approximately 1.5 hours of Mooresville, NC or the surrounding area. Must be able to drive to the client site once a month. Type: Full-Time Department: Managed Application Services | Years of experience: 1 to 3 | Salary: $50k to $70k | Job type: Remote with 20% travel

About the Role

We're looking for a detail-oriented Software QA Tester to join our Managed Application Services team. In this role, you'll test custom applications that our development team builds and deploys across our clients' businesses. These applications integrate closely with our clients systems, so you'll need to be comfortable learning how our clients' operations, processes, and business rules actually work in order to test effectively.

This is a great fit for someone who's naturally curious, methodical, and not satisfied until they've found the edge case everyone else missed.

What You'll Do

  • Write clear, thorough test plans and test cases based on application requirements and client business rules
  • Execute manual (and where applicable, automated) testing across web and desktop applications
  • Identify, document, and track software bugs and defects through resolution
  • Learn client’s operations and workflows well enough to test software in real-world context
  • Validate that applications correctly integrate with and reflect data from client systems
  • Collaborate closely with developers, project managers, and client stakeholders to clarify requirements and confirm fixes
  • Perform regression testing to ensure new releases don't break existing functionality
  • Communicate testing status, risks, and issues clearly to the project team
  • Train end users on how to use our software solutions

What You Bring

  • Experience writing test plans, test cases, and bug reports
  • Solid understanding of QA methodologies and the software testing lifecycle
  • Familiarity with Microsoft technologies (e.g., .NET, SQL Server, Windows Server, Azure)
  • Ability to quickly learn new business domains — manufacturing experience or exposure to ERP systems is a strong plus
  • Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort working directly with client-facing teams to understand real business processes

Nice to Have

  • Associate or bachelors in a technology related field
  • Experience testing applications integrated with ERP platforms (e.g., Dynamics, SAP, Epicor, etc.)
  • Exposure to automated testing tools or frameworks
  • Prior experience in a managed services or software consulting environment

WHO WILL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE

  • Junior-level, but highly detail-oriented and methodical, with a natural instinct to think outside the box
  • Comfortable with technology and how software works, without needing deep technical or coding depth
  • Genuinely content with steady, repetitive day-to-day work; this role rewards consistency over novelty
  • Comfortable taking an adversarial approach to testing
  • Willing to visit the client's plant once a month to understand how the software drives production and runs the business
  • Able to communicate clearly and comfortably with non-technical end users on the plant floor
  • People with business analyst instincts, or prior business analyst experience, tend to be a strong fit
  • Comfortable with a break/fix support model and mindset

Why Join Us

You'll play a critical role in making sure the applications we build actually work for the organizations who depend on them every day, catching issues before they hit the production systems. You'll get exposure to a variety of client environments, and industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, transportation etc. and the full lifecycle of custom application development.
