Junior Solution Consultant (Remote)

Is this job info correct?

The Role We're looking for a Junior Solution Consultant to join the team at StudioForty9. You'll sit between our clients and our developers — understanding what businesses need, translating that into clear requirements, and helping both sides stay aligned as the work gets built. This is an entry-level consulting role. We don't expect you to arrive with a fully-formed consulting toolkit. We're looking for someone curious, methodical, and eager to learn the craft of understanding business problems and shaping technical solutions. This is a fully remote position. What the Work Actually Looks Like Your day-to-day will be a mix of investigation, communication, and structured thinking. You'll spend time with clients — joining calls, asking questions, and working to understand how their business operates and what they're actually trying to achieve (which isn't always what they initially ask for). You'll document requirements, map out processes, and turn messy real-world workflows into something a development team can build against. On the technical side, you'll be reading through existing code and configurations to understand how things currently work, digging into data to answer questions or spot issues, and testing out new tools and integrations as part of discovery work. You won't be writing production code, but you should be comfortable opening a codebase and figuring out what's going on. You'll also own your estimates and commitments. If you say something will be done by Thursday, it needs to be done by Thursday — or communicated well before Thursday that it won't be. Reliability matters more than speed. What We Expect From You Open-minded and eager to learn , with the ability to independently research, investigate, and apply new technologies and systems while working effectively with limited guidance. Curiosity and skepticism. We want someone who asks "why?" a lot — not to be difficult, but because understanding the real problem is the core of the job. If a client asks for feature X, we expect you to dig into what they're actually trying to accomplish, not just write down "build X." Strong ability to understand complex systems and the relationships between technical components and human interactions. Comfort with ambiguity. The job is rarely clean. Requirements shift, clients don't always know what they need, and you'll often need to form a coherent picture from incomplete information. You should be comfortable saying "I don't know yet, but I'll find out" — and then doing it. AI-native mindset. We use AI tooling heavily — Claude Code, Cursor, and similar — as part of how we work. You don't need to be an expert, but you should have experimented with agentic AI tools enough to have an opinion about them. If the idea of using AI as a daily work accelerator doesn't interest you, this role won't be a good fit. Client comfort. You'll be client-facing from early on. You don't need to be a polished presenter, but you should be willing to speak up in meetings, ask clarifying questions, and represent the team professionally. Requirements A qualification in IT, computer science, or a related technical field — or equivalent self-taught experience you can demonstrate 1–3 years of experience working within an IT team in some capacity (support, QA, development, data analysis, etc.) Comfortable reading and reasoning about code — you don't need to write it fluently, but you should be able to open a codebase and understand the broad strokes Strong written and verbal communication skills — you'll be writing a lot of documentation, tickets, and client correspondence A demonstrated habit of being reliable with deadlines and proactive when things go off track Hands-on experience with AI-assisted tools (Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or similar) Nice to Have Exposure to SQL — writing queries, joining tables, making sense of large datasets — or a willingness to learn it Experience with Shopify or other ecommerce platforms, either as a merchant or working on implementations Background in retail operations — understanding of inventory, order management, fulfilment, or POS systems Experience being on client calls or presenting to stakeholders, even informally Familiarity with APIs — being able to read API documentation and test endpoints (Postman, Insomnia, etc.) Who We Are StudioForty9 is a recognised leader in the Irish digital sector with a proven track record of delivering and continuously improving high-performance ecommerce solutions for some of Ireland's best-known retail brands. We work at the intersection of ecommerce strategy, technology, and operations — helping ambitious retailers scale their online businesses, open new channels, and build the integrations and automation that make growth sustainable. We're platform-agnostic, independently minded, and we put long-term client relationships above short-term wins. Our team is experienced and direct. We hire people who can do the work, take responsibility for it, and make good decisions without needing constant guidance. To apply, visit: https://studioforty9.com/career/
