Show job description

Vattenfall is a leading European energy company driving the transition to a sustainable energy system. We have been electrifying industries, powering homes and transforming life through innovation for more than 100 years. We employ around 21 000 people mostly in our core markets in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the UK.

Do you want to make a difference and help industrial companies navigate the energy transition?

Vattenfall’s Business Sales Department offers a wide range of products in the energy field. We operate in a highly competitive and dynamic market, serving large corporate customers, partners, and resellers. Our ambition is to be number one for the customer.

We are looking for a Key Account Manager to join our Industrial Production Clients team within Business Area Customers & Solutions. This is an opportunity to strengthen Vattenfall’s position as the preferred energy partner for industrial customers in Denmark and across the Nordic region.

Our customers operate in an increasingly complex environment where competitiveness, energy supply, commercial risk, and sustainability ambitions are closely connected. In this role, you will help customers navigate these challenges while building long-term partnerships that create value for both the customer and Vattenfall.

Vattenfall has established a strong position within the Industrial Production client segment in Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. As we continue to build an even stronger customer platform in Denmark, you will become an important part of our Nordic sales organization and contribute directly to its future growth.

You will join a Nordic sales team of thirteen Key Account Managers across Sweden, Finland, and Denmark and report to the Sales Manager and Head of Industrial Production Clients Nordic. Based in Copenhagen, you will work closely with colleagues across the region. The team has a collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture, supported by flexible working conditions that combine office collaboration with remote work when appropriate.

Your role

As Key Account Manager, you will be responsible for developing long-term, profitable business and strategic customer partnerships within the Nordic Industrial Production client segment. You will work with prospects and customers to understand their operations, energy needs, market exposure, decision-making structures, and long-term priorities.

From this insight, you will identify opportunities, offer relevant solutions, and negotiate contracts. You will act as a trusted advisor, helping prospects and customers navigate the energy transition, manage market risks, and achieve their sustainability ambitions, including reducing their environmental footprint.

You will coordinate cross-functional expertise across Vattenfall to develop and deliver customer solutions. This includes close cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment, a seamless customer experience, and long-term value creation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and manage long-term strategic relationships with industrial prospects & customers in Denmark and across the Nordic market.
  • Identify customer needs and translate them into tailored, value-creating energy solutions.
  • Take commercial ownership of customer opportunities from early development through internal alignment, negotiation, and contracting.
  • Lead commercial discussions and contract negotiations in close collaboration with relevant specialists.
  • Coordinate cross-functional bid and solution-development activities, ensuring clear ownership, alignment, and progress.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by translating energy-market and industry developments into relevant customer insights.

Manage and develop a profitable customer portfolio while contributing to Vattenfall’s customer offering and commercial platform in Denmark.

Your profile

You are a commercially minded professional with experience in B2B sales, key account management, business development, or another field involving complex customer solutions. Experience from the energy commodity business is highly relevant, while experience from sectors with complex instruments, such as insurance or finance, may also provide a strong foundation.

You combine strategic and commercial focus with operational capability. You are genuinely interested in customers and their industry challenges, and you are motivated to create the best possible value through collaboration. Structured, proactive, and self-driven, you enjoy working independently as well as in a cross-border team.

Your credibility is built through business insight, sound judgement, and clear communication. You are trustworthy, solution-oriented, and comfortable involving the right colleagues to move customer opportunities forward. You bring creative thinking and a drive to continuously develop and improve.

To succeed in this role, you bring:

  • A relevant degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Science, or a comparable field.
  • Fluency in Danish and English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong and demonstrated business acumen.
  • Experience in B2B sales, key account management, business development, or other complex commercial environments.
  • Knowledge of energy commodities, electricity markets, energy procurement, risk management, or comparable complex solutions.
  • Strong communication, influencing, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • A genuine interest in customers, their operations, and their industry challenges.
  • A proactive, collaborative, and solution-oriented way of working.
  • Experience with electricity supply agreements, commodity contracts, hedging solutions, power purchase agreements, Nordic electricity markets, or decarbonisation strategies is an advantage.
  • An established network within Danish industry or the energy sector would also be beneficial.

We look forward to receiving your application!
