Korean Linguist / Phonetician – Phonetic Transcription Project

We are seeking a fluent Korean linguist or phonetician based in South Korea for a short-term language project involving transliteration and phonetic transcription.

Responsibilities

• Create transliterations and phonetic transcriptions for Korean words
• Transcribe foreign words appearing within Korean-language text
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to the project’s transcription guidelines

Requirements

• Fluent Korean speaker currently residing in South Korea
• Professional or academic background in linguistics, phonetics, or a related field
• Training or practical experience in phonetic transcription systems such as IPA, SAMPA, and/or L&H+
• Strong attention to linguistic detail and consistency
• Availability to complete approximately 100 hours, with the highest workload expected in October

• Estimated workload: 100 hours
• Project timeline: September 20–November 15
• Peak allocation: October
• Compensation: $23 USD per hour
• Work arrangement: Remote, based in South Korea
