About the role

A supervised, part-time traineeship for someone who wants practical experience in English–Chinese language work on fund materials, listed-company reports and corporate communications.

Work is remote and as needed. Hours are not guaranteed, and some weeks may have no assignments. When work is available, notice is usually given at the start of the week. Workload is generally up to about 10 hours per month, subject to studio needs.

Duration: about 3–6 months, subject to performance. The traineeship is reviewed and may be renewed every three months at the studio’s discretion.

Pay: hourly. Please state your expected rate in HKD; the rate is agreed individually with each trainee.

All work is supervised. This is not an unsupervised client-delivery role.

What you’ll do

  • Assist with English↔Chinese assignments (Traditional and Simplified Chinese), including translation, proofreading and bilingual checks
  • Compare source and translated documents for meaning, terminology, figures, dates, names and formatting
  • Carry out terminology research and prepare clear notes on questions or inconsistencies
  • Support document preparation and related language-production tasks under supervision

Who we’re looking for

  • Strong written English and Chinese, including careful work with Traditional Chinese (Simplified Chinese is an advantage)
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to checking text
  • Interest in finance, business writing or translation — prior experience helpful but not required
  • Organised, reliable, and willing to ask when something is unclear
  • Discretion when handling confidential material
  • Current university students are welcome (eligibility considered case by case)
  • Applicants must have the right to undertake this work in Hong Kong

What we offer

  • Practical, supervised experience in specialist financial and corporate language work, where accuracy, context and professional judgement matter
  • Close feedback on assignments and a clear view of how language work is checked and prepared for publication
  • Depending on performance and project needs, opportunities may arise to assist with assignments using advanced AI tools (not guaranteed)
  • A written performance report at the end of the traineeship; a reference letter available on request
