ABOUT THE ROLE & TEAM

We are looking for a Lead Software Developer (UI Tech Lead) to join the AMS Modernisation Programme, helping transform a legacy platform into a modern, scalable and future-ready solution.

You will provide hands-on technical leadership for the design and delivery of modern customer-facing applications, with a strong focus on React, TypeScript and Micro-Frontend (MFE) architecture.

Working closely with Product, UX, Architecture and Engineering teams, you will help shape the UI architecture, establish engineering standards and guide the team in delivering secure, reliable and maintainable solutions.

The wider platform uses Java/Spring Boot microservices, cloud-native technologies and AI-enabled capabilities. You will also help the team adopt AI-assisted development practices to improve engineering productivity, quality and delivery speed.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role with strong ownership and influence over the technical direction of the AMS solution.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Lead the technical design and delivery of modern, responsive user interfaces using React and TypeScript.
• Define and evolve the Micro-Frontend (MFE) architecture, reusable components and common UI patterns.
• Set and promote UI engineering standards, ensuring consistency, scalability and maintainability across the solution.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership, including solution design, coding, code reviews and technical problem-solving.
• Work closely with Product, UX, Architecture and Engineering teams to translate customer and business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Collaborate with backend engineering teams working with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs and microservices.
• Contribute to cloud-native solution design, including security, observability, performance and operational considerations.
• Apply AI-assisted development tools and practices to improve developer productivity, software quality and delivery velocity.
• Support the delivery and integration of AI-powered capabilities, including RAG and agentic AI where appropriate.
• Drive automated testing, code quality, secure development practices and CI/CD.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across the application stack and drive sustainable technical improvements.
• Mentor developers and help the team adopt modern UI technologies and engineering practices.

ABOUT YOUR SKILLS

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience in a senior or technical leadership role.
• Strong hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Strong experience designing modern front-end architecture and reusable component-based applications.
• Experience designing or working with Micro-Frontend (MFE) architectures.
• Strong understanding of modern UI engineering practices, including state management, testing, performance, accessibility and responsive design.
• Experience integrating front-end applications with RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Good knowledge of Java and Spring Boot or experience working closely with Java/Spring engineering teams.
• Experience building and delivering cloud-native applications.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD and secure software engineering practices.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools and techniques within the software development lifecycle.
• Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to guide engineering decisions, mentor developers and collaborate across disciplines.

NICE TO HAVE

• Good knowledge of Java and Spring Boot or experience working closely with Java/Spring engineering teams.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure managed services.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with Azure DevOps tooling and delivery pipelines.
• Experience developing or integrating AI-powered customer features.
• Knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector search and grounding.
• Exposure to agentic AI and AI integration patterns.
• Understanding of AI security, evaluation, observability and responsible AI practices.
• Experience modernising large-scale or legacy enterprise applications.
