At Cancer Research UK, we exist to beat cancer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the UK's largest charity's Legacy Management Team, whose work makes it possible for gifts in Wills to fund around a third of our life-saving research.
As a Legacy Management Officer, you'll play a vital role in delivering our legacy product strategy, building strong professional relationships across the sector, and ensuring that every gift left to Cancer Research UK is managed with care, professionalism and expertise.
Working collaboratively with executors, families, colleagues and legacy professionals, you'll help maximise the impact of these generous gifts while representing Cancer Research UK as a trusted and valued beneficiary.
What will I be doing?
- Managing a portfolio of pecuniary, residuary and life interest trust legacies, ensuring cases are administered efficiently, accurately and in line with Cancer Research UK's interests.
- Building positive relationships with executors, solicitors and other legacy professionals, acting as a professional and approachable first point of contact.
- Engaging sensitively with family members and friends of supporters to acknowledge gifts and demonstrate the impact of their legacy on life-saving research.
- Providing accurate legacy valuations, maintaining case records and ensuring compliance with financial, audit and data protection requirements.
- Supporting the Legacy Partnership Manager with professional engagement activities, including events, visits and relationship-building initiatives.
- Contributing to the wider legacy strategy by identifying opportunities to improve processes, share success stories and strengthen Cancer Research UK's reputation across the sector.
What are we looking for?
- An individual with significant experience in probate, trusts, charity law or probate team in a private practice.
- Strong knowledge of probate administration, estate accounts, investment management, share valuations and financial reporting.
- Sound understanding of relevant taxation, including inheritance tax, income tax and capital gains tax.
- Proven experience managing a legacy administration function or a comparable caseload, with excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities, with confidence working collaboratively across a range of audiences.
- A proactive and adaptable approach, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Our organisation values are designed to guide all that we do.
Bold: Act with ambition, courage and determination
Credible: Act with rigour and professionalism

Together: Act inclusively and collaboratively
We’re looking for people who can believe in and embody these organisation values and can use them to drive forward progress against our mission to beat cancer.
If you’re interested in applying and excited about working with us but are unsure if you have the right skills and experience we’d still love to hear from you.
