Discovery is looking for a talented and passionate Legal Counsel to join our team. We offer an exciting and collaborative work environment where you can unleash your creativity and make a real impact. This is a temporary Maternity Cover position.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 0-2 years of experience as a Legal Associate.
  • Experience in an in-house legal department or other commercial legal environment is preferred.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, clinical research, laboratory services, medical device, diagnostics, or another regulated industry is preferred.
  • Experience supporting U.S. and/or international business operations is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently on routine legal matters while appropriately identifying and escalating higher-risk or complex issues.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop solutions and recommendations and facilitate process changes quickly and accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and perform effectively in a fast-paced work environment while considering various legal requirements across multiple areas.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, including the ability to see the "big picture" as well as the connections between detailed and specific legal and business matters.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate legal and contractual issues clearly to business stakeholders and external parties. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

    Responsibilities

    • Takes ownership throughout all stages of the contract lifecycle with customers, vendors and other third parties, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating, executing, administering, interpreting, and terminating agreements, while addressing the needs of internal stakeholders and applying the company's standards for contractual terms and risk/liability management.
    • Partners with business stakeholders to identify legal and commercial risks and develop practical solutions consistent with Company standards.
    • Effectively and appropriately interacts with customers and other stakeholders to maintain and strengthen the company's relationships with third parties.
    • Supports management of the company's trademark portfolio, and manages the activities of external legal counsel and local representatives, as appropriate.
    • Proactively identifies and resolves legal and related issues; monitors changes in the legal environment affecting the company; develops best practices to address emerging legal and business risks; and provides training when necessary.
    • Provides legal advice and support regarding compliance with laws and regulations applicable to the Company's operations. Maintains the confidentiality of Company, customer, employee, and other confidential or sensitive information in accordance with applicable legal requirements and Company policies. Performs other duties as assigned by the manager. Such duties may occasionally fall outside the scope of the responsibilities described herein.
    • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.
    • This is a remote position in Bulgaria.
    • Temporary Maternity Cover contract.
