Legal Engineer
FluxCap | New York City or Washington, DC | Hybrid | Full-time
Help turn legal expertise into software other lawyers can use.
About FluxCap
Strong cases should get their day in court. FluxCap helps lawyers connect the law, evidence, and strategy of a case so they can take on bigger opponents and win on the merits, regardless of the size of their team. We’re starting with antitrust.
Founded by Jonathan Kanter and Doha Mekki, former leaders of the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division, FluxCap brings together former DOJ lawyers and engineers from Palantir and Meta. We’re backed by Y Combinator, Bloomberg Beta, and other investors.
The role
You’ll work with litigators and software engineers to shape how FluxCap helps lawyers build a case. You’ll bring legal judgment to product development: identifying what a claim requires, testing whether the evidence supports an argument, and explaining where the software’s analysis falls short.
You’ll also work directly with lawyers using FluxCap. You’ll learn how they approach their cases, help them use the product, and bring what you learn back to the team.
This role combines substantive legal analysis with building and improving software. You don’t need to write code, but you should enjoy learning new tools and working through problems with engineers.
What you’ll do
Work with lawyers using FluxCap to understand their cases and where the product can help.
Develop and refine the legal guidance behind our research and case-development workflows, starting with antitrust.
Review AI-generated analysis for legal accuracy, supporting evidence, and missing arguments.
Turn legal judgments into examples and evaluation criteria that engineers can use to improve the product.
Test new features on realistic legal problems and give specific feedback on what works and what needs to change.
Help design workflows for research, evidence review, and case strategy.
What you’ll bring
Legal training and experience doing substantive work in complex litigation.
Strong research and writing skills, with close attention to citations and what a source actually supports.
Ability to explain your reasoning clearly to lawyers and engineers.
Comfort working through unfamiliar problems and revising your approach as you learn.
Curiosity about AI and an interest in improving how legal work gets done.
Antitrust experience is especially relevant. Experience with legal technology or AI tools is helpful. Coding experience isn’t required.
Compensation and benefits
Competitive salary and equity
Medical, dental, and vision insurance
401(k) with an employer match
Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability
Learning and professional development budget
You must be authorized to work in the United States. We are not currently able to sponsor visas.
