About the Role The Legal Officer is critical to supporting adherence to the organisation's legal, regulatory, and operational framework. You will help identify, assess, prioritise, and manage risk and compliance obligations while providing practical advice and support to stakeholders across the business. Legal, Risk & Compliance Support the delivery of the Legal, Risk & Compliance strategy. Assist in identifying, assessing, prioritising, and managing legal, regulatory, and compliance risks. Draft, review, and maintain policies, procedures, guidance notes, and governance documentation. Support the recording, monitoring, and reporting of business risks and mitigation activities. Provide practical legal and compliance guidance to colleagues across the organisation. Contribute to the preparation of compliance reports and management information for senior stakeholders. Support horizon-scanning activities, identifying legislative and regulatory changes and assisting with implementation. Assist with compliance projects and continuous improvement initiatives. Help develop and deliver compliance and regulatory training programmes. Engage with stakeholders across all levels of the business to embed a strong culture of risk awareness and compliance. Support operational teams with problem-solving on legal and compliance matters. Financial Crime & Regulatory Compliance Review and verify new client onboarding and client acceptance documentation, ensuring compliance with business policies and procedures. Support customer due diligence (CDD), Know Your Customer (KYC), and onboarding processes. Monitor sanctions developments and advise stakeholders on potential impacts to the business. Assist the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Deputy MLROs with anti-money laundering, financial crime, and sanctions-related activities. Manage and maintain third-party screening and verification tools used to identify and assess financial crime risks. Support regulatory reporting, investigations, reviews, and thematic inspections. Assist with the preparation of information required for regulatory audits and reviews. Ensure changes in regulatory requirements are reflected within policies, procedures, and risk assessments. Contracts & Data Protection Assist with the review and drafting of contracts, supplier agreements, and client documentation. Support client and supplier due diligence activities. Assist with Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and other privacy-related enquiries. Support data breach investigations and remediation activities. Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Transfer Impact Assessments (TIAs). Support wider information governance, security assurance, and audit activities. Maintain regulatory, audit, and compliance documentation. Assist the Data Protection Officer or Deputy as required. Insurance, Governance & Business Support Support the administration and reporting of claims and complaints. Assist with insurance renewals and the gathering of regulatory information. Produce reports and management information for senior stakeholders. Maintain accurate records and documentation to support governance activities. Support business continuity and resilience planning. Assist with the preparation of executive and management reporting. Additional Responsibilities Work flexibly across the Legal, Risk & Compliance function, supporting colleagues and wider business priorities as required. Develop a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks governing the jurisdictions in which the business operates. Desirable Skills & Experience A Law degree or relevant legal qualification. Experience working within a legal, compliance, governance, risk, or regulatory environment. Knowledge of anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions, financial crime, or regulatory compliance requirements. Experience supporting customer due diligence, onboarding, or KYC processes. Understanding of data protection legislation and privacy frameworks. Experience supporting contract reviews and legal documentation.
