About the Opportunity

micro1 is engaging experienced Lawyer / Legal Writers to contribute to a customer project focused on evaluating and improving advanced AI systems. In this role, you will apply your legal writing, editing, and analytical expertise to assess how effectively AI systems generate written legal and technical content.

This is an evaluation and analysis engagement, not a legal-advice or legal-representation role. The focus is on applying professional legal judgment to determine whether written content is precise, appropriately qualified, well-supported, properly tailored to its intended audience, and free from unsupported conclusions or overstatement.

No prior AI experience is required. Your legal writing and content-evaluation expertise are the primary focus.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and compare multiple AI-generated responses to legal and technical prompts.
• Assess written content for clarity, tone, precision, structure, and compliance with instructions.
• Assign analytical quality scores and provide detailed written rationales supporting each assessment.
• Identify authoritative-sounding content that lacks sufficient precision, supporting evidence, or appropriate qualification.
• Detect overstatements, unsupported claims, ambiguities, inconsistencies, and factual inaccuracies.
• Evaluate whether legal arguments and written analysis are appropriately tailored to their intended audience.
• Review content for appropriate legal terminology, qualifications, reasoning, and level of detail.
• Document findings and evaluation insights accurately using online review and annotation platforms.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project managers and other reviewers to maintain consistent evaluation standards.
• Work independently while managing assigned deliverables and project deadlines.
• Apply professional legal-writing judgment consistently across a variety of written content.

Required Qualifications

• Strong professional-level written English and exceptional written communication skills.
• Qualifying law degree from a university in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, or New Zealand.
• Demonstrated experience drafting legal documents such as:
• Briefs
• Motions
• Legal memoranda
• Legal opinions
• Regulatory submissions
• Strong legal writing, drafting, editing, and document-review capabilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and critical-analysis skills.
• Ability to identify unsupported claims, overstatement, ambiguity, and factual inaccuracies in written content.
• Strong ability to assess whether content is appropriately tailored to its intended audience.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage deadlines reliably.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience reviewing, editing, or supervising legal writing produced by junior lawyers, trainees, or paralegals.
• Experience evaluating written material intended for legal, regulatory, client, or public audiences.
• Familiarity with digital document-review platforms or annotation tools.
• Experience with content evaluation, quality assurance, or structured written-content review.
• Previous exposure to AI model evaluation, RLHF, or related AI training workflows is a plus but not required.
• Strong ability to distinguish precise, appropriately qualified legal analysis from confident but insufficiently supported writing.

Compensation & Engagement

• Compensation is $90–$140/hour.
