Position Title: Product Medical Physicist (US Based) Reports To: Physics Manager (UK Based) Type : Full time, Hybrid Role (travel required) Position summary At Leo Cancer Care, the Product Medical Physicist plays a pivotal role in bringing innovative cancer care solutions from concept to reality. This position leads and coordinates the Quality Assurance methods for new products from design and development into manufacturing and service. The Product Medical Physicist ensures QA for the products align with accepted industry protocols, customer needs & expectations, accuracy and integrity of product and systems installation. This includes defining the processes (e.g. Customer Acceptance), tools, and training while maintaining a strong focus on quality, compliance, and efficiency. Also integrating the training and processes into service and installation processes. Including traveling to customer sites during the installation and transition to clinical operations. Knowledge and Skill requirements Required: Master’s degree in relevant physics or engineering domain (medical physics, nuclear engineering) Experience as a medical physicist in clinical service or industry Experience working in regulated industries; medical device experience strongly preferred (ISO 13485, FDA, MDR). Experience with treatment planning, treatment delivery, and CT and linac quality assurance, or significant experience commissioning and maintaining CT and linac systems used in radiation therapy. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience developing procedures, and training materials. Excellent customer relations and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment. Ability to travel to customer sites and suppliers, domestically and internationally, up to 25%. Thorough understanding of ionizing radiation safety. Preferred or Desired, but Not Necessary: PhD in physics or relevant engineering specialty (medical physics, engineering physics, nuclear engineering) Certification by American Board of Radiology (ABR), American Board of Medical Physics, or The Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine. Prior clinical experience in Proton Radiation Therapy. Experience as a Radiation Safety Officer. Experience in a customer support role for medical imaging or radiation therapy. Primary Responsibilities Product QA Leadership Lead the development of QA methods, tools, and processes for new products, ensuring a smooth transition from design and development into manufacturing, installation, and service. Develop and refine procedures and documentation for customer acceptance testing, commissioning, and routine and patient-specific quality assurance for Leo Cancer Care imaging and therapeutic systems. Ensure QA processes align with accepted industry protocols and regulatory requirements (e.g. AAPM Task Groups). Monitor and report tasks, risks, and issues; escalate to project and engineering leadership when appropriate. Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, and compliance in QA process and workflows. Operate as the company Radiation Safety Officer; managing the radiation safety program design & oversight. Defining policies, training strategy, and global regulation alignment. Training & Customer Enablement Develop documentation and training materials that facilitate clinical use of Leo Cancer Care's products. Provide training, in a variety of formats, to internal service and installation teams and to new and existing customers on acceptance testing, commissioning, and QA procedures. Travel to customer sites during installation and the transition to clinical operations to provide on-site support and ensure a smooth clinical adoption (go-live). Be available for escalated remote support for new and existing users. Share knowledge, tools, and best practices on medical physics QA across the organization. Act as subject matter expert between customers and product development, helping to guide new product scope, requirements, improvements, enhancements, and corrections.
