Linux System Engineer

About the Role

NISH Tech BV is looking for an experienced Linux System Engineer to join a leading European organization in the energy and utilities sector.

You will provide advanced operational support for enterprise Linux infrastructure, ensuring platform stability, performance, security and reliability. The role involves managing Red Hat Linux environments, automating infrastructure operations, troubleshooting complex system issues and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain reliable infrastructure while supporting automation, monitoring and modern platform engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain enterprise Linux-based infrastructure.
• Manage the lifecycle of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent environments.
• Perform system troubleshooting, performance tuning and OS-level diagnostics.
• Manage provisioning, patching and lifecycle activities using Red Hat Satellite or equivalent tools.
• Develop and maintain automation using Ansible.
• Integrate automation with monitoring and operational workflows.
• Support Git-based workflows and infrastructure CI/CD pipelines.
• Manage Podman and OCI container environments.
• Handle incidents, service requests, problem management and change management.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.
• Contribute to infrastructure automation and platform improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security and operations teams.

Required Skills

• Minimum 4 years of experience in enterprise IT operations.
• Strong experience managing Linux-based infrastructure.
• Hands-on Red Hat Enterprise Linux or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Red Hat Satellite or similar enterprise Linux management tools.
• Strong Ansible Automation Platform experience.
• Understanding of Infrastructure as Code.
• Practical experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Podman or OCI containers.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes, including incident, problem and change management.
• Strong troubleshooting and monitoring skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Oracle, MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• VMware and NetApp storage.
• Bash and/or Python scripting.
• Palo Alto, Check Point, F5 or InfoBlox.
• Endpoint security tools such as Trend Micro Deep Security or ClamAV.
• Vendor coordination and licensing management.
• German language skills.

Languages

• Dutch or French: Full professional/native proficiency.
• English: Professional working proficiency.
