We embrace AI as a tool for efficiency and innovation, and we’re looking for someone excited to use it.

About the Role

This full-time, hybrid position is based in our Portland office. This position provides critical support to the firm’s litigation practice. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, detail-oriented team player who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of legal assistant duties to support attorneys in litigation matters.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, orders, and subpoenas, from dictation, written instructions, and other materials.
  • Manage calendars and schedule hearings, motions, meetings, mediations, and arbitrations, ensuring timely notification to all involved parties.
  • Proofread and edit documents for accuracy in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format.
  • Review and file legal documents in compliance with Oregon state and federal court requirements (both electronically and manually).
  • Assist with general case management and document organization to keep litigation processes running smoothly.
  • Maintain documents and files in a securely-managed document management system.
  • Use firm-approved AI tools to increase efficiency in drafting, document review, and other day-to-day tasks.
  • Participate in team collaboration, offering guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members. Occasional overtime may be required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of recent litigation experience as a legal assistant or paralegal, with Oregon state and federal court filing experience.
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with document management systems.
  • Experience with Oregon state and federal e-filing systems (OECI and PACER/CM-ECF).
  • Willingness to embrace and use AI tools to work more efficiently, as our firm actively embraces AI in how we serve clients.
  • Proven ability to file legal documents both electronically and manually with federal and state courts and agencies.
  • Experience with Adobe and Excel is a plus.

What We’re Looking For

The successful candidate will be:

  • Highly detail-oriented and exceptionally organized.
  • Professional in demeanor with a positive, can-do attitude.
  • An excellent communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
  • A collaborative team player who enjoys mentoring less experienced team members.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Open-minded and adaptable, with a willingness to learn and use AI tools to improve efficiency and quality of work.

If you are a dedicated legal professional looking to grow your career with a firm that values excellence and teamwork, we encourage you to apply.
