Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator – Truckload is responsible for the day-to-day execution of truckload shipments while providing exceptional service to customers, carriers, and internal operations teams. This role includes customer quoting, carrier sales, shipment tracking, dispatch coordination, proactive customer communication, capacity sourcing, and issue resolution to ensure freight is delivered safely, on time, and cost-effectively.
This is an after-hours operations position, supporting transportation operations outside of traditional business hours.
Schedule
Shift: Wednesday – Sunday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern
Days Off: Monday & Tuesday
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and dispatch truckload shipments from pickup through delivery.
- Prepare accurate and timely customer quotes while identifying the most competitive transportation solutions.
- Source, negotiate, and secure qualified carrier capacity to meet customer service requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with carrier dispatchers, transportation providers, and owner-operators.
- Monitor and track active shipments throughout transit to ensure on-time pickup and delivery.
- Provide proactive shipment updates and communicate regularly with customers via phone, email, and transportation management systems.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for customers by responding promptly to transportation requests, shipment inquiries, and service-related questions.
- Communicate professionally with carriers, drivers, warehouses, and customers to coordinate shipments and resolve issues.
- Proactively manage transportation exceptions, including delays, missed appointments, detention, breakdowns, and service failures.
- Ensure accurate shipment documentation, rate confirmations, system updates, and load notes.
- Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction through responsive communication and proactive problem-solving.
- Collaborate with internal teams while following established standard operating procedures and service expectations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of truckload dispatch, brokerage, logistics coordination, or carrier sales experience.
- Working knowledge of truckload transportation operations and carrier procurement.
- Experience preparing transportation quotes and negotiating rates with carriers.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong customer service, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a professional home office setup.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a freight brokerage or third-party logistics (3PL) provider.
- Familiarity with DAT, Truckstop, McLeod, AscendTMS, Tai, or similar logistics software.
- Knowledge of dry van, reefer, flatbed, expedited, intermodal, and specialized freight.
- Established carrier relationships and experience negotiating transportation rates.
