Logistics Director — Hungry Minds

Location: Remote
Type: Full-time

About Hungry Minds

Hungry Minds is a fast-growing global creative publishing and DTC company creating premium physical products for customers around the world.
Our products are designed and developed globally, with a significant part of our manufacturing and supply chain based in China. We sell internationally across the US, Europe, Asia and other markets.
We’re looking for a Logistics Director who can take ownership of our global logistics operation and build a scalable, cost-efficient supply chain as we continue to grow.

The Role

As Logistics Director, you will own the movement of our products from Chinese suppliers and factories all the way to the end customer.
You’ll be responsible for building and managing a reliable international logistics network across freight, warehousing, 3PLs and fulfillment.
This is a highly hands-on role. We’re looking for someone who understands how DTC physical-product businesses actually operate, not just someone with traditional freight-forwarding experience.

What You’ll Own

  • Develop and manage Hungry Minds’ global logistics strategy
  • Manage the flow of products from China factories to international warehouses and customers
  • Own international freight — ocean, air, rail and express where appropriate
  • Build and manage relationships with freight forwarders, 3PLs, warehouses and fulfillment partners
  • Negotiate freight, warehousing and fulfillment rates and contracts
  • Optimize shipping routes, lead times and logistics costs
  • Manage inventory positioning across different markets
  • Work closely with Procurement, Production, Finance, Sales and Operations
  • Establish reliable forecasting and replenishment processes
  • Monitor inventory levels, stock availability and potential shortages
  • Build processes to minimize excess inventory, dead stock and logistics inefficiencies
  • Own international fulfillment performance and delivery SLAs
  • Resolve escalations involving delayed shipments, customs, warehouses and 3PLs
  • Develop logistics KPIs and reporting
  • Identify and implement opportunities for automation and process improvement
  • Build a scalable logistics infrastructure capable of supporting significant business growth

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain or international operations
  • Strong experience with physical products and international e-commerce/DTC
  • Experience working with Chinese manufacturers and suppliers
  • Strong understanding of China → US / Europe / international logistics
  • Experience managing 3PLs, warehouses and fulfillment providers
  • Strong knowledge of international freight and customs
  • Proven experience negotiating with logistics providers
  • Strong understanding of inventory management and demand planning
  • Comfortable working with data, costs and operational KPIs
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Excellent English communication

Strongly Preferred

Experience working for or with:
  • DTC/e-commerce brands
  • Consumer products
  • Publishing / books
  • Toys / games
  • Lifestyle products
  • Luxury or premium products
  • Kickstarter / crowdfunding businesses
  • Brands manufacturing primarily in China and selling internationally
Especially valuable: experience where you personally owned the full chain from factory → freight → warehouse/3PL → customer.

Who Would Be a Great Fit?

You could be a former:
  • Head of Supply Chain at a DTC brand
  • Logistics Director at an e-commerce company
  • Supply Chain Director managing China + international markets
  • China Operations Director for a global consumer brand
  • Senior logistics leader who has moved from a large company into a DTC environment
  • Founder/operator of a physical-product DTC brand with strong supply-chain experience
We’re particularly interested in international candidates who have experience working with China and understand both the Chinese manufacturing environment and Western/DTC business culture.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 6–12 months, you will have:
  • Built a reliable end-to-end logistics network
  • Improved visibility across shipments and inventory
  • Reduced unnecessary logistics and fulfillment costs
  • Improved delivery reliability
  • Strengthened our 3PL and freight-forwarding network
  • Created clear logistics KPIs and reporting
  • Reduced stockouts and excess inventory
  • Built processes that can support Hungry Minds’ continued international growth
