We are Eden Futures, and we deliver exceptional support services for people aged 18 and over who have learning disabilities, autism, mental ill health and associated complex needs.

Eden Futures provides high quality, person centred care, support and enablement for people with disabilities and support needs. In this role, you will be an important part of our Eden Futures Finance department. You will report directly to our Finance Manager, and work closely alongside another Management Accountant and three Finance Assistants. The wider Finance team also consists of a Billing and Credit Control team and Payroll team.

The basic salary for this position is between £35,000 and £40,000 depending on experience + benefits, 37.5 hours per week Hybrid work location - based 3 days per week from our head office in Newark.

About The Role

As an Eden Futures Management Accountant, your key role is to deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts across a multi-company supported-living group, explain performance clearly to non-finance stakeholders, and help improve the efficiency and control of finance processes

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post month-end journals, including payroll, accrued and deferred revenue, prepayments, accruals, payroll accruals, depreciation and other required adjustments.
  • Complete all month-end journals within five working days of month end, maintaining clear and auditable supporting schedules.
  • Own monthly balance sheet reconciliations for the companies allocated to you. The seven group companies are shared between two Management Accountants.
  • Review results, trends and unusual movements to confirm figures are accurate, complete and commercially sensible.
  • Analyse service and property-level performance, identify the top and bottom five services in each area, and turn the numbers into a concise narrative.
  • Present monthly findings to Regional Managers and explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
  • Investigate questions raised by the Finance Manager, Group Financial Controller, CFO, Service Managers and Area Managers.

Wider Finance Support Responsibilities

  • Update the rolling cash flow forecast each week.
  • Support the prepaid card and expenses system by answering queries, checking coding and ensuring transactions export correctly to the accounting system.
  • Manage queries received through the management accounts inbox
  • Help calculate recharge bills to people we support.
  • Provide training and guidance to Purchase Ledger colleagues when required.
  • Review journal workings and identify practical automation and process improvements that shorten month end without weakening controls.

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous management accounts experience is essential, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • AAT qualified or equivalent is preferred. CIMA or ACA study/qualification would be an advantage but is not essential.
  • Strong Excel capability, including lookup and IF formulas and pivot tables, with confidence working with large data sets.
  • Sage 200 experience is preferred; experience of a comparable accounting platform will also be considered.
  • Able to manage competing priorities, meet firm deadlines and retain accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Confident translating financial information into plain English for operational and senior stakeholders.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate Eden Futures’ values in how they work. Our values are: Brave, Honest, Caring & Compassionate and Positive.
