Williams College is seeking a skilled Human Resources professional to join our team as Manager of Staff Recruitment. Reporting to the Director of HR Operations & Employee Experience, this role serves as an internal search consultant and trusted advisor, guiding hiring managers and search committees through structured, equitable, and effective staff search processes.
The Manager of Staff Recruitment oversees and facilitates the search process for all staff positions across the college, from frontline to executive level roles in areas including but not limited to academic, operational, administrative, student life, and auxiliary departments.
Rather than operating as a recruiter, the Manager of Staff Recruitment serves as a consultative partner: advising hiring managers on search strategy, facilitating search processes, providing guidance to ensure equitable selection practices, and supporting candidates through the offer and new hire experience.
The Manager of Staff Recruitment, hiring managers, and the wider HR team collaborate to create and maintain an inclusive, equitable, and welcoming work environment and offerings where all members of our community can work, learn, and thrive.
Responsibilities:
- Search Consultation & Strategy: Partner with hiring managers and search committees to clearly convey position requirements and responsibilities to candidates, establish search timelines, and design tailored outreach and recruitment plans.
- Committee Facilitation & Guidance: Serve as a subject matter expert for search committees; provide recruitment orientation, interview training, and structured evaluation tools to ensure objective, compliant, and inclusive decision-making.
- Process Management & Compliance: Oversee job postings, guide hiring managers on using candidate pipeline progression, monitor applicant pools, analyze applicant demographics to prevent adverse impact, ensure search workflows adhere to College policies and employment laws
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR Business Partners, the Compensation Analyst, and hiring managers to align job descriptions for postings, establish competitive salary ranges, and provide insights into current market trends.
- Offer Facilitation: Recommend compensation offers in consultation with the Director, handle offer extensions, and facilitate offer negotiations.
- Post-Offer & Pre-Boarding Administration: Manage background checks and reviews, process hire details, and facilitate pre-boarding to first day processes for incoming staff.
- Community Engagement: Represent Williams College at select local, regional, and higher education career and networking events and build talent pipelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Higher Education Administration, or a related field, and a minimum of at least 2 years of experience managing hiring/search processes, HR consulting, or talent acquisition, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Demonstrated experience guiding hiring managers or search committees through structured selection processes is preferred.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills are required.
- Strong facilitation, consultation, and interpersonal skills are required, with the ability to navigate potentially conflicting priorities or perspectives.
- Understanding of HR practices and employment laws with a deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and fair hiring practices.
- Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (Workday preferred) and office productivity tools (Google Workspace).
Hybrid on-site/remote work arrangements may be available for up to 1 day of remote work per week for employees based in MA, NY, CT, or VT, following a fully in-person onboarding period.
Application review will begin on November 16, 2026. Pay range is from $65,000 to $75,000, commensurate with experience.
