Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of DO-178C certification and compliance programs, ensuring quality, successful project execution, and customer satisfaction.

  • Manage and develop engineering teams through hiring, workforce planning, coaching, mentoring, and career development.

  • Provide technical leadership for certification planning, compliance, verification, testing, audit readiness, and certification deliverables.

  • Serve as a key customer and stakeholder interface, driving collaboration, risk management, and business growth initiatives.

  • Oversee delivery KPIs, resource utilization, risk mitigation, process improvements, and capability development within the Certification CoE.

Collaborating closely with a dedicated Scrum Master, you'll work together to prioritize the backlog and create user stories that align with the INVEST acronym, thereby building solutions that not only solve technical challenges but also address critical business problems. A solid understanding of Agile Scrum Ceremonies will be instrumental in your success in this role, enabling you to navigate the agile landscape with finesse and deliver exceptional results.

The Manager – Safety Certification is responsible for leading a team of certification, verification, and compliance engineers supporting safety-critical embedded software programs. The role provides technical and people leadership across DO-178C certification engagements while ensuring delivery quality, customer satisfaction, staffing readiness, resource utilization, and compliance with certification standards.

The successful candidate will manage global certification delivery activities, support customer engagements, develop technical talent, and drive operational excellence across Aerospace & Defense, Industrial, Medical, and Automotive certification programs.

Who You Are

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, verification, validation, certification, or related engineering domains.

  • 3+ years of team leadership or people management experience.

  • Demonstrated experience leading safety-critical software certification programs.

  • Experience managing global or distributed technical teams.

  • Strong knowledge of DO-178C lifecycle processes and compliance requirements.

  • Certification planning, execution, and compliance management.

  • Requirements engineering and end-to-end traceability.

  • Verification and Validation (V&V) methodologies.

  • Requirements-based testing and test compliance.

  • Structural coverage analysis.

  • Software Quality Assurance (SQA).

  • Software Configuration Management.

  • Certification audit preparation, execution, and regulatory support.

  • Strong understanding of embedded software development practices.

  • Proficiency in C and Embedded C.

  • Experience with BSP (Board Support Package) and device driver development or verification.

  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and systems engineering methodologies.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Experience with VxWorks real-time operating systems.

  • Experience with Embedded Linux platforms.

  • Familiarity with Helix Virtualization Platform (HVP).

  • Experience supporting Aerospace & Defense certification programs.

  • Knowledge of IEC 50128 and ISO 26262 functional safety standards.

  • Experience working directly with certification authorities such as FAA, EASA, or equivalent regulatory bodies.

  • Program or project management experience in regulated environments.

  • Knowledge of software architecture, systems integration, and safety engineering practices.

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
