The successful candidate does not need to be a technical systems expert, but should understand how management systems, assurance, safety culture, and organizational learning work together to support effective operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the TOMS, Assurance and Safety Culture portfolio, establishing priorities and ensuring activities align with organizational needs and operational objectives.
  • Provide strategic direction for the implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of TOMS.
  • Lead assurance strategies and activities that evaluate conformance, identify systemic opportunities, and strengthen organizational performance.
  • Advance safety culture and organizational learning through Human and Organizational Performance (HOP), Just Culture, and other safety culture initiatives.
  • Integrate insights across TOMS, assurance, and safety culture to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with business and functional leaders to translate enterprise requirements into practical and sustainable approaches.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary team while building strong relationships across the organization.
  • Influence senior leaders and stakeholders through complex issues, competing priorities, and organizational change.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or technical diploma in a related field.
  • 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in operations, assurance, safety, risk, organizational performance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing people.
  • Understanding of management systems and how they support governance, assurance, operational performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence across functions and effectively engage senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, and change leadership skills.
  • Experience identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement and translating insights into meaningful organizational improvements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary or geographically dispersed teams.
  • Experience with assurance, audit, operational excellence, safety management, continuous improvement, or management systems.
  • Knowledge of Human and Organizational Performance (HOP), Just Culture, learning teams, or similar organizational learning practices.
  • Experience working in energy, utilities, pipelines, industrial operations, or another safety-critical environment.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-wide programs, initiatives, or organizational change.
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish is considered an asset.
