About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Chinese Voice Coach with native or near-native Mandarin proficiency to support a large-scale AI development initiative. In this role, you will use your expertise in Chinese pronunciation, speech delivery, and linguistic evaluation to assess audio samples and help improve next-generation AI systems.

You will evaluate the naturalness, fluency, pronunciation, and authenticity of spoken Mandarin while providing clear, actionable feedback. No prior AI experience is required. Your language expertise and ability to recognize nuanced speech patterns are what matter most.

Key Responsibilities

• Listen to and evaluate Chinese audio samples to assess the nativeness, fluency, and naturalness of spoken Mandarin.
• Analyze pronunciation, tones, intonation, rhythm, clarity, and overall speech delivery.
• Identify unnatural speech patterns, tonal inaccuracies, pronunciation errors, and inconsistencies in linguistic expression.
• Provide clear, concise written feedback in English, highlighting relevant linguistic observations and areas for improvement.
• Document detailed justifications for each evaluation to ensure consistency, accuracy, and clarity.
• Assess whether speech samples reflect authentic Mandarin pronunciation and natural conversational delivery.
• Apply established evaluation guidelines when reviewing AI-generated speech and voice samples.
• Collaborate with project coordinators to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguities, and maintain consistent assessment standards.
• Share linguistic insights and recommendations to improve AI models' Chinese language understanding and speech generation.
• Complete assigned audio evaluation tasks accurately and within established project timelines.

Required Qualifications

• Native or near-native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, with a strong command of spoken and written language.
• English proficiency at B2 level or above, particularly for written and verbal communication.
• Strong active-listening skills and the ability to identify subtle differences in pronunciation, tones, intonation, and fluency.
• Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate linguistic observations clearly and provide constructive, well-supported feedback.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
• Access to a quiet workspace and reliable internet connection.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in voice specialization, linguistics, phonetics, music, audio engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with audio analysis, transcription, speech evaluation, or linguistic assessment.
• Familiarity with Mandarin pronunciation standards, tonal patterns, and regional speech variations.
• Experience in media, communications, language coaching, or teaching.
• Ability to evaluate speech authenticity, vocal delivery, and natural conversational expression.
• Interest in contributing to AI-driven speech and language technologies.
