The Role: Manufacture Engineer

Location: Batam, Riau Islands, Indonesia
Employment Type: Full-time
Company: Schneider Electric

We are looking for a hands-on and improvement-driven Manufacture Engineer to optimize manufacturing processes, workstations, production capacity, and industrial performance within our Batam manufacturing operations.

In this role, you will serve as a key specialist in time determination and ergonomics, while leading productivity initiatives across your assigned manufacturing perimeter. You will analyze production methods, improve manual and automated processes, support new line development, and ensure manufacturing capacity is aligned with business requirements.

Working closely with Production, Industrialization, Engineering, Quality, and other cross-functional stakeholders, you will help create safer, more efficient, and more robust manufacturing processes.

What will you do?

Manufacturing Methods & Process Optimization

  • Determine the standard time required to manufacture products using appropriate time-analysis methodologies.
  • Analyze and improve production methods, manufacturing processes, and workstation design.
  • Implement process and workstation improvements for existing products to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and operational performance.
  • Optimize manual, automated, and PLC-controlled manufacturing processes.
  • Develop clear and standardized work instructions to support operator training and consistent process execution.
  • Act as the Time Determination and Ergonomics Specialist within the assigned manufacturing perimeter.

Productivity & Continuous Improvement

  • Define, implement, and monitor productivity action plans within the assigned area.
  • Lead or contribute to continuous improvement projects focused on manufacturing performance, cost, quality, and lead-time improvement.
  • Deploy Schneider Production System principles and apply Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
  • Participate in operational performance meetings and drive actions to remove production barriers quickly.
  • Identify process inefficiencies and translate findings into practical, measurable improvement plans.

Capacity & Industrial Performance Management

  • Analyze and manage production capacity against workload requirements for internal and external manufacturing lines.
  • Use capacity and simulation tools such as iQ Simulation, CAMA, CORIM, and Bridge to support production planning and industrial decisions.
  • Identify capacity constraints and implement solutions to optimize line utilization.
  • Reduce manufacturing lead times while ensuring sufficient production capacity.
  • Support performance analysis related to process design, ergonomics, investment, cost, and operational efficiency.

Industrialization & New Product Introduction

  • Support the development of new products by evaluating manufacturability, producibility, and process feasibility.
  • Participate in the specification and quotation of new production-line architectures and industrial scenarios.
  • Ensure proposed manufacturing solutions meet safety, quality, lead-time, capacity, and productivity requirements.
  • Lead or support new production ramp-up activities and ensure stable transition into regular manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with project teams to deliver manufacturing and industrialization projects successfully.

Equipment, Process Qualification & Investment

  • Evaluate the feasibility and profitability of manufacturing investments.
  • Support the selection, specification, and implementation of manufacturing equipment and production solutions.
  • Qualify manufacturing equipment, processes, and production methods at the plant and supplier locations.
  • Ensure new or modified manufacturing processes are ready for safe, reliable, and efficient production.
  • Monitor implemented solutions to confirm that expected improvements and business results are achieved.

PCBA Manufacturing Support

  • Support process improvement across front-end and back-end PCBA manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze manufacturing challenges and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
  • Improve process flow, workstation arrangement, capacity, and production performance.
  • Work with production and engineering teams to resolve operational issues and maintain stable manufacturing output.
  • Support the implementation of automation and PLC-based process improvements where applicable.

What qualifications will make you successful?

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Approximately 2 to 5 years of experience in process engineering, manufacturing engineering, manufacturing planning, or a related industrial role.
  • Practical understanding of manufacturing processes, time determination, ergonomics, capacity analysis, and productivity improvement.
  • Experience with front-end and back-end PCBA manufacturing processes.
  • Experience improving manual, automated, or PLC-controlled production processes.
  • Ability to lead project teams, execute improvement plans, and deliver measurable results.
  • Good written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Batam.

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, LADM, MTM, SAP, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and structured continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with manufacturing capacity analysis and simulation tools.
  • Understanding of workstation design, ergonomics, standard time calculation, and industrial cost analysis.
  • Experience supporting production-line setup, equipment qualification, or new product ramp-up.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and structured problem-solving capabilities.
  • Customer-focused and quality-oriented approach to manufacturing improvement.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • Passionate about improving manufacturing methods and industrial performance.
  • Comfortable working directly on the production floor and engaging with operators, technicians, and engineering teams.
  • Able to combine technical analysis with practical, sustainable manufacturing solutions.
  • Strong in time studies, ergonomics, capacity management, and workstation optimization.
  • Proactive in identifying productivity opportunities and resolving process constraints.
