About the Role
A mid-level M&A/PE Associate is sought to join a corporate practice at a law firm. The role combines end-to-end transaction leadership with general corporate work, offering regular client contact and close collaboration with partners.
What You'll Do
Manage mergers and acquisitions from due diligence through closing.
Draft and negotiate purchase agreements, merger agreements, financing documents, and other transaction documents.
Coordinate due diligence processes across transactions.
Advise clients on entity formation, corporate structuring, and ongoing corporate matters.
Support private equity sponsors and portfolio companies throughout the investment lifecycle.
Work directly with clients and collaborate with partners in a lean team environment.
What We're Looking For
Four to eight years of M&A and private equity transactional experience at a law firm, with the ability to independently run deals end-to-end.
Experience supporting private equity-sponsored transactions, managing due diligence, and drafting and negotiating purchase or merger agreements.
A Juris Doctor degree and a license to practice law in Missouri, or willingness to obtain one.
Strong client service, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple matters.
Experience with general corporate work; debt financings, equity structuring, or cross-border transactions are also relevant.
Authorization to work in the United States is required. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary range: $205,000 to $285,000 annually. Compensation is not tied to a BigLaw lockstep model.
Location
On-site in St. Louis, Missouri, with four days per week in the office. Chicago-based candidates with Missouri ties may also be considered.
