Position: Medical Director / Senior Medical Director Department: Clinical Development Location: Remote with up to 20% domestic travel Reports To: Executive Director, Clinical Development Position Summary Angitia Biopharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and entrepreneurial-minded Medical Director or Senior Medical Director to provide clinical development leadership for global programs in rare musculoskeletal diseases. This role combines strategic clinical development responsibilities with hands-on study execution and medical oversight in a lean, science-driven biotechnology environment. The successful candidate will serve as Clinical Development Team Lead for key development programs and provide medical oversight for ongoing global clinical trials. The position requires a physician who is scientifically rigorous, highly detail-oriented, and willing to operate across both strategic and operational aspects of clinical development, including medical monitoring, study conduct, protocol execution, review of study-level documents, and cross-functional team leadership. The ideal candidate will bring strong clinical judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for advancing therapies for patients with rare diseases. Prior industry experience or substantial direct experience with industry-sponsored clinical trials is preferred. The successful candidate should be familiar with, or able to rapidly adopt, rigorous clinical development processes, including protocol governance, cross-functional document review, regulatory documentation standards, inspection readiness, and disciplined study execution in a fast-paced, growing biotechnology environment. Responsibilities Medical Monitoring and Clinical Oversight Serve as internal Medical Monitor and/or provide oversight of medical monitoring activities for ongoing studies Ensure study activities are conducted in accordance with established clinical development governance processes, quality standards, regulatory requirements, and inspection-ready documentation practices. Review subject eligibility, protocol deviations, adverse events, serious adverse events, laboratory abnormalities, and emerging study data. Participate in safety review meetings and support interactions with Data Monitoring Committees and regulatory authorities. Provide medical guidance to investigators and study sites. Clinical Development Team (CDT) Leadership Serve as Clinical Development Team Lead for assigned development programs in rare bone disease Provide clinical leadership and oversight for ongoing global phase 2 clinical studies and future late phase clinical planning Lead cross-functional Clinical Development Teams and partner closely with Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Biostatistics, Clinical Pharmacology, Data Management, and Research. Contribute to overall clinical development strategy, lifecycle planning, and regulatory interactions. Study Execution and Operational Excellence Ensure high-quality clinical trial conduct across global studies. Draft, author, review and/or approve study protocols, study manuals, monitoring plans, charters, investigator training materials, informed consent documents, clinical study reports, and other study-level documentation with close attention to consistency, completeness, and operational feasibility. Drive high-quality development of study and regulatory documents, ensuring consistency across protocols, manuals, charters, statistical analysis plans, investigator materials, clinical study reports, and regulatory submissions. Collaborate with Clinical operations, CROs, internal study teams to ensure operational excellence and inspection readiness. Drive resolution of study conduct, enrollment, data quality, and protocol implementation issues. External Engagement Support interactions with regulatory agencies, investigators, and key opinion leaders. Represent the company at scientific meetings, investigator meetings, and advisory boards as needed. Qualifications Required MD degree from an accredited medical school. Completion of U.S.-based clinical residency training. Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, Medical Genetics, or related discipline. Experience working within multidisciplinary clinical development teams, including structured cross-functional review and decision-making processes. Strong attention to detail and demonstrated experience developing and reviewing protocols, study manuals, charters, safety documents, investigator materials, and regulatory documents in accordance with rigorous clinical development and document quality standards. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Willingness to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced biotech environment. Preferred Experience supporting interventional clinical studies as Medical Monitor, Clinical Lead, or equivalent Industry experience within biotechnology or pharmaceutical development, especially in organizations with established clinical development governance, document review, and protocol development processes. Clinical development experience in rare disease, endocrinology, metabolic bone disease, musculoskeletal disease, or pediatric disorders. Experience with Phase 2 and/or Phase 3 clinical studies. Prior Clinical Development Team Lead or Study Team Leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to apply disciplined study oversight, protocol development, and document review practices.
