MES Engineer – PAS|X (Contract)

About the Role

We are looking for an MES Engineer to act as a technical subject matter expert for PAS|X across our client’s manufacturing operations. Working within the MES team and reporting to the Lead MES Engineer, you will design, configure and support electronic batch records (EBRs), and help Operations and Quality teams resolve issues and use the system effectively.

This is a new role that will contribute directly to the successful adoption and sustained performance of PAS|X across Packaging, Fill Finish and Biologics.

Key Responsibilities

EBR development and configuration

  • Design, configure and maintain EBRs and GMBRs within PAS|X, in line with agreed design and build standards.
  • Implement changes and site projects through the change control process.
  • Take part in system testing, commissioning and validation activities to ensure operational readiness for each go-live.

Production support

  • Provide day-to-day MES support to production, resolving issues promptly to maintain manufacturing continuity.
  • Troubleshoot PAS|X issues, assess their impact on manufacturing and quality processes, and coordinate resolution with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Support and troubleshoot Level 2 integrations between PAS|X and automation, equipment, laboratory, DCS and enterprise systems.

Compliance and continuous improvement

  • Ensure PAS|X changes, support activities and documentation meet GxP, data integrity, change control and validation requirements.
  • Contribute to root-cause investigations, deviations and CAPAs, and help identify recurring system issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve usability, reliability, data quality and process efficiency, and support the implementation of approved improvements.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to optimise MES-enabled workflows.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, and provide practical guidance and training to users and support teams.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • At least three years of experience as a PAS|X developer or engineer in pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other regulated manufacturing.
  • Practical experience with the development, configuration, testing and support of PAS|X solutions.
  • Experience supporting the EBR lifecycle, including GMBR development and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Level 2 integration and the interfaces commonly used to connect MES with automation, equipment and other manufacturing systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting MES issues in a production or operational support environment.
  • Understanding of GxP, validation, change control and data integrity expectations for regulated systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues systematically and communicate findings clearly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Desirable Experience

  • PAS|X implementation or deployment in Packaging, Fill Finish or Biologics operations.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing automation, SAP, DCS, PLC and plant-level systems.
  • Experience with deviation investigations, CAPA and validated system maintenance.
  • Experience working in cross-functional or international project teams.

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly rate; hybrid working in Dublin.
  • An initial 12-month contract, with the potential to extend.
  • Hands-on involvement in a new PAS|X deployment, from go-live and hypercare through to ongoing support and improvement.
  • The chance to work at the intersection of technology, Operations and Quality, alongside an experienced MES team.

Our client is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives can contribute and succeed. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates.
