Middleware Platforms Support Lead (VP)

Salary: £100,000–£135,000 + Bonus & Benefits

I’m partnering with a leading international banking group looking for a hands-on technical leader to support, engineer and enhance its business-critical middleware platforms.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys getting into the detail of complex technical issues while leading platform improvements and delivering meaningful engineering change.

What you’ll be doing:

• Taking ownership of complex production incidents across middleware platforms, leading investigation, recovery and permanent fixes.
• Supporting and enhancing IBM MQ, AutoSys, Splunk and enterprise integration services.
• Driving platform resilience, automation and service stability initiatives.
• Improving monitoring, alerting and observability to identify issues before they impact the business.
• Leading technical remediation and root-cause analysis following major incidents.
• Delivering engineering improvements to reduce manual intervention, improve operational efficiency and strengthen supportability.
• Supporting critical banking services in a 24/7 environment, including escalation, on-call and out-of-hours activities.
• Working closely with engineering, infrastructure and production support teams to improve reliability and operational standards.

Key projects and initiatives:

• Middleware platform resilience and stability improvements.
• Automation of repetitive operational tasks and recovery processes.
• Enhancements to Splunk monitoring, alerting and service visibility.
• Improvements to workload scheduling and batch processing through AutoSys.
• IBM MQ performance, availability and supportability enhancements.
• Major incident remediation and proactive reduction of recurring production issues.
• Engineering standards and operational readiness improvements across critical platforms.

What I’m looking for:

• Strong hands-on IBM MQ administration and production support experience.
• Solid AutoSys or equivalent workload automation expertise.
• Strong Splunk and monitoring experience.
• A background supporting business-critical enterprise services.
• Proven experience troubleshooting complex incidents and delivering lasting technical solutions.

This is a senior, hands-on VP opportunity combining technical leadership, production ownership and platform engineering within a complex international banking environment.
