We're looking for a Music Licensing Executive to join our team to secure, manage and deliver the licensed music that families love on Yoto, working with major and independent labels, collection societies, publishers and rights holders to make sure every release launches accurately and on schedule.
About Yoto
Yoto is a screen-free interactive audio platform for kids. We make carefully connected audio players that kids control, with no microphones, cameras or ads. We have a catalogue of audio that inspires creative play and learning with 1,000+ titles in our card store from top creators, publishers and labels - think Disney, Marvel, Roald Dahl and Universal Music. We also create Yoto Originals like BrainBots.
Voted the 14th fastest-growing private software technology company in Britain in The Sunday Times 100 Tech 2025; and named the 94th fastest-growing company in Europe in the prestigious FT1000.
Ranked 9th in Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies in 2024; and featured in the Sifted 100 fastest-growing startups across the UK&I by revenue growth.
Featured in Bloomberg’s 25 UK startups to watch in 2023; and ranked second fastest growing tech company in the UK in the Deloitte Fast50.
Named one of TIME Magazine’s Top 100 Inventions of 2020.
We’re over 200 employees spread across the world... and growing!
We’re on a mission to be the soundtrack of childhood, and help families on their own unique adventures. By creating products that inspire independent play, we help families discover and grow with an inspiring world of audio - and we would like you to help us achieve it!
Yoto’s Content Team
Music is a big part of the soundtrack of childhood, and our Content team is responsible for bringing it to families on Yoto. We work with labels, publishers, artists and creators to build a catalogue that sparks singing, dancing and imagination, and we make sure every title is licensed properly, delivered accurately and launched successfully. The Music Licensing Executive is the link between our external partners and rights holders and the teams inside Yoto who turn a deal into a card in a child's hands. Reporting into the Senior Licensing Manager, you'll work closely with Legal, Finance, Content Operations, Production and Marketing, so the people behind the music are treated fairly, and families are presented with the very best audio for kids.
What you’ll be doing:
Support the acquisition and licensing process for music releases, from first conversation with a label, publisher or artist team through to signed agreement and delivery
Nurture and manage select partner relationships alongside the Music Licensing team
Liaise with labels, artists and their teams on artwork and asset delivery
Track and analyse community content requests, sales and engagement, and produce partner-facing presentations and reports based on our internal data
Keep accurate records of rights, territories, terms, advances, minimum guarantees and renewal dates, so the business always knows what we're licensed to release and when
Work with Finance on royalty set-up, statements and payments, and respond to rights holder queries on reporting and payments
Partner with Content Operations, Production and Marketing to make sure licensed music is delivered, approved and launched on schedule, flagging risks early and keeping release plans on track
Keep up to date on industry trends, scout for suitable music content and potential new licensor/label partners
Represent Yoto at key industry gatherings, licensing forums, and external partner events.
What you’ll bring:
Proven experience in music licensing, either on the label or publishing side or for a music platform, collection society or digital service, with a working understanding of master and publishing rights, territories and licence terms.
Hands-on contracting and negotiation experience, including agreeing commercial terms and working from licence agreements alongside legal teams.
A track record of managing rights holder relationships, including labels, publishers, distributors or artist management, and handling queries through to resolution.
Experience tracking rights, deal terms and delivery dates across multiple releases at once, using spreadsheets or rights management tools, with accuracy you can evidence.
Demonstrated experience working alongside Legal, Finance, Operations, Production or Marketing teams to deliver releases to a fixed schedule.
Nice-to-haves:
Experience with royalty accounting or reporting for music licences, including working with Finance on statements and payments.
Experience licensing music for children's, family or educational audio and content.
Experience applying AI or automation tools to administrative or analytical work, and the judgement to know where human review is essential.
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 based on experience
How we use AI at Yoto
We think using AI to work smarter is part of the job.
At Yoto, we use AI to help us move faster and reduce manual work so we can focus our time on creativity, problem-solving and impact. We don’t want to use AI to cut corners - it’s about smart usage that makes space for the work that really matters. Our intention is to be thoughtful about how we use AI. We treat its outputs as a starting point, not the final answer, and we take care to use it responsibly - especially given the trust families place in Yoto.
We don’t expect everyone to be an AI expert, but we do expect people to be curious, to experiment, and to keep improving how they work. If you prefer to do everything manually, you might find our pace and expectations challenging.
The magic at Yoto comes from people working here, not their prompts. AI should help us move faster, not change what makes working here great.
