Who We Are
O’Dell HVAC Group is a well-established HVAC equipment representative, partnering with engineers, building owners and contractors throughout Canada. Our success is fueled by our people-first culture, where teamwork, innovation and professional growth are at the core of everything we do.
Our culture is shaped by our values: Everyone Cares, Driven to Innovate, Let’s Be Curious, Operationally Nimble, and Leverage Collaboration. These values guide how we work together, solve problems, support our customers and grow as a team.
We are seeking a National Aftermarket Parts Manager to build and lead the next stage of O’Dell’s Canadian Aftermarket Parts business. This is a hands-on senior commercial and operational leadership role responsible for building the people, processes, regional capacity and commercial engine required to scale three core Aftermarket Parts channels: Outside Sales, Counter Sales and E-Commerce.
This role will be central to building a coordinated, scalable and profitable national Aftermarket Parts function while maintaining strong alignment with O’Dell’s regional and branch leadership and AIR’s broader Aftermarket Parts strategy.
We welcome candidates based anywhere in Canada. While this role is classified as remote, regular travel to O’Dell offices and branches across the country is an essential part of the position. You’ll spend meaningful time in person with our teams, customers and supplier partners to build relationships, support operations and drive business growth.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the Canadian Aftermarket Parts business. Lead the development and execution of the Canadian Parts strategy and annual operating plan, with accountability for revenue, gross profit, contribution and operating performance. Establish clear expectations by region, branch and channel and maintain accountability against budget and growth objectives.
- Build regional capability. Develop the people, branch and counter infrastructure, inventory capacity and leadership structure required to support national growth. Build Outside Sales and Counter Sales capacity based on market opportunity and phase in Regional Aftermarket Parts Managers as revenue, staffing and complexity warrant.
- Build and expand the Parts footprint. Work with O’Dell leadership to establish, expand and improve Parts counters and regional operations. Help determine where investment in facilities, staffing, inventory and customer-facing infrastructure will generate the strongest commercial return.
- Grow Outside Sales. Develop regional growth plans based on territory potential, customer penetration, product availability and branch capacity. Guide prospecting, account development, pipeline management and sales productivity to expand relationships with contractors, commercial customers, building owners, service organizations and other business customers.
- Strengthen Counter Sales. Improve growth, profitability, staffing effectiveness and customer experience across the branch network. Establish consistent expectations for service, merchandising, order accuracy, product availability and fulfillment, and evaluate counter investments against customer demand, productivity and expected return.
- Build and guide e-commerce growth. Work with the Manager, E-Commerce and E-Commerce Specialist to establish and scale O’Dell’s national digital channel. Set revenue, gross-profit, contribution and customer-growth objectives while supporting the continued development of D2C and B2B offerings.
- Expand digital channels and assortment. Support growth through relevant marketplaces such as Amazon and Walmart, new supplier relationships, drop-ship opportunities and a broader online assortment that complements O’Dell’s existing Parts business.
- Connect the channels. Ensure e-commerce complements branch, Outside Sales and Counter Sales operations while maintaining clear performance visibility by channel. Align pricing, product availability and customer experience so customers can move effectively between field, counter, telephone and digital interactions.
- Drive digital commercial performance. Guide pricing, merchandising, promotions, conversion, repeat purchasing and customer acquisition. Partner with Marketing on paid media, SEO, campaigns and other growth initiatives, with investment tied to measurable commercial results.
- Optimize inventory and working capital. Partner with Operations, Finance and Purchasing on inventory deployment, replenishment, demand planning and supplier stocking programs. Improve turns, fill rates and product availability while reducing stock-outs, excess inventory and unnecessary duplication between channels.
- Develop supplier and product opportunities. Build strong relationships with O’Dell and AIR supplier partners to strengthen pricing, availability, rebates, technical support and commercial programs. Coordinate supplier training and product launches and pursue replacement-equipment and adjacent-product opportunities.
- Build the operating system. Establish repeatable processes, scorecards, KPIs and operating rhythms across the business. Create clear accountability around revenue, gross profit, sales productivity, inventory, customer growth, branch performance and channel contribution.
- Use data to drive decisions. Partner with Finance on accurate reporting and P&L visibility. Leverage NetSuite, Power BI and other reporting platforms to guide staffing, inventory, marketing, pricing, capital investment and geographic expansion decisions.
- Lead and develop people. Build, coach and develop a high-performing national organization. Clarify responsibilities, establish performance expectations and partner with HR on hiring, succession planning, performance management and incentive structures aligned with profitable growth.
- Stay close to the business. Visit branches and regional operations regularly to support teams, understand local market opportunities and ensure operating standards are being executed consistently. Work across Parts, Service, Sales, Operations, Finance, Marketing and Technology and collaborate with AIR Aftermarket Parts leadership on best practices and cross-company opportunities.
What You Bring
- Significant leadership experience in aftermarket parts, distribution, wholesale, industrial products, retail operations, e-commerce or another relevant multi-location business.
- A demonstrated record of leading a growth-oriented business or commercial function with meaningful P&L responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience building or significantly scaling a commercial function, including hiring teams, establishing operating processes, implementing performance measures and developing new markets or locations.
- Strong understanding of sales management, pricing, gross-margin management, inventory and operational performance, with the commercial judgement to identify and execute growth opportunities.
- Experience leading geographically dispersed teams, including Outside Sales or business-development resources and branch or counter-sales operations.
- Experience building supplier and manufacturer relationships and negotiating commercial programs with strategic partners.
- Strong analytical skills and confidence using financial and operational data to set priorities, measure results and guide decisions.
- Strong communication, coaching and people-leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across sales, operations, finance, marketing and technology.
- A willingness to be hands-on and build. This role requires someone comfortable creating structure, solving operational problems and developing teams while the business continues to scale.
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout Canada to support branches, teams, customers, suppliers and market development.
- Experience spanning traditional branch or distribution channels and digital commerce is strongly preferred.
- HVAC, building-products or mechanical-industry experience is an asset, not a requirement. We welcome leaders from adjacent industries who bring strong commercial and operational experience and can quickly learn our products and markets.
