Position Purpose

Upholds the Credit Union’s mission of “We do the right thing one member, one employee, and one experience at a time to strengthen the communities we serve” by managing and maintaining the organization’s computer network, including local area networks (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and wireless networks. This role ensures that network systems are functioning efficiently, securely, and reliably to support the organization’s business operations. The Network Administrator monitors network performance, troubleshoots issues, and implements network upgrades and enhancements as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

Technical Skills

· Monitor, maintain, and support the organization’s network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPNs.

· Perform regular network monitoring and analysis to identify issues, optimize performance, and ensure high availability.

· Manage network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.

· Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, access controls, and encryption.

· Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and policies.

· Provide timely resolution of network-related issues and support requests from end-users and other ITS Teams.

· Diagnose and resolve network problems, including connectivity issues, hardware failures, and configuration errors.

· Configure and maintain network devices, including setting up VLANs, routing protocols, and IP address schemes.

· Perform routine network maintenance tasks, such as firmware updates, backups, and patch management.

· Ensure network configurations are documented and up to date.

· Analyze network performance data to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.

· Optimize network configurations to enhance speed, reliability, and efficiency.

· Develop and maintain network backup and disaster recovery plans, ensuring the availability of critical systems and data in the event of an outage.

· Regularly test and update recovery procedures to ensure the business continuity.

· Work closely with other ITS Teams, vendors to support network-related projects.

· Communicate network status, issues, and resolutions to team members and management.

· Keeps up to date with regulatory, technical, industry, and other developments as they relate to Credit Union operations.

· Performs other duties as assigned by the Infrastructure Manager.

Sets and Monitors the Department’s Standards

· Identifies improvements and efficiency of business and ITS processes and systems.

· Provides support to the ITS Teams during and after business hours.

Member Advocacy

· Treats all members and co-workers with dignity and respect.

· Resolves issues and completes requests to members’ satisfaction.

Projects

· Assists in the implementation of new services and products.

· Identifies options for potential solutions and assesses them for security, technical, and
business suitability.

· Works closely with vendors and end users ensuring that all ITS projects and support work is completed in a timely manner.

Communications

· Uses excellent communication and listening skills to communicate highly technical information to non-technical users, including employees, technicians, and vendors.

· Provides frequent and timely updates for all work in progress or planned.

Necessary Experience and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

· 3-5 years of experience in network administration, systems administration, or a similar technical role.

· Strong knowledge of networking concepts, networking protocols, security practices, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and VLANs.

· Stays current with relevant emerging technology advances.

· Experience with network automation, monitoring and management tools.

· Proficiency in network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

· Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.

· Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure.

· Ability to work outside of normal business hours.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

· Office environment with moderate to high level of noise.

· Frequent use of telephone, computer, multifunction printer, and other office machines.

· Prolonged sitting or standing, and ability to stay in one place or work in a confined area for extended periods.

· Frequent mental and visual concentration.

· May travel occasionally to branches for projects, meetings, seminars, or conferences.

· Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for over 90 percent of work time.

· Some work to be performed outside of normal business hours.

· Moderate lifting of up to 50 pounds. Also, ability to transport objects weighing between 5 and 50 pounds for 5 to 10 percent of work time.

NOTE: This job has the potential to work from home, contingent upon supervisor approval. Approval will be based on the Work from Home Policy eligibility requirements as well as the department needs.
