The Role
We're looking for a Paralegal to support our in-house legal team on customer contracts, compliance and corporate housekeeping.This is a hands-on role, working closely with our Legal Counsel, the founders, HR and the commercial team.
You'll have the opportunity to gain broad in-house experience at a growing legal tech business and to help build our legal processes as we scale.
As ILS continues to grow, the role is likely to develop too, so we're looking for someone who is comfortable taking ownership, bringing ideas and getting involved.
What You'll Be Doing
Contract support
- Prepare first drafts of NDAs, data processing agreements and order forms from our templates.
- Track the status of contracts in negotiation, along with renewal and notice dates.
- Manage the signature process and file executed agreements.
Compliance and governance
- Maintain statutory registers and prepare Companies House filings.
- Support data protection compliance and responses to customers' information security questionnaires.
- Keep company policies up to date.
Legal operations
- Organise and maintain our contract repository.
- Support HR with employment documentation.
- Carry out legal research when needed.
Working with the wider team
- Work closely with Legal, the founders, HR and the commercial team.
- Share ideas and contribute to wider company priorities.
- Help improve processes and ways of working as the business grows.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is precise, organised and discreet, and comfortable working in a growing business where things are still being built.You'll ideally have:
- At least 1 to 2 years' experience as a paralegal, in-house or in a commercial or corporate team at a law firm.
- A law degree, or progress towards the LPC or SQE.
- Close attention to detail when drafting and checking documents.
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage several matters at once.
- Comfort working with technology and learning new systems.
- Discretion with confidential information.
- Experience at a technology or SaaS business.
- Experience with data protection compliance.
- Experience with contract management or e-signature tools.
- Exposure to fund formation work.

- Hiring Manager interview — A conversation with our Legal Counsel to explore your experience, approach to the role and how you work.
- Practical exercise — A short drafting and document review task. This shows us your attention to detail and how you approach a typical piece of work.
- Final conversation — A final conversation with relevant members of the ILS team and founders, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and get a better feel for the team, culture and direction of the business.
