We’re looking for a Paralegal, Legal & Compliance to join our US team, supporting a broad range of regulatory and compliance activity as CFC continues to grow its presence in the US.
You’ll play an important role in maintaining CFC’s insurance and claims adjusting licences across all 50 states, helping to ensure our regulatory authorisations remain protected and our submissions are completed accurately and on time.
While licensing will be a key part of the role, there’s plenty of variety. Depending on your experience and interests, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in wider legal and compliance matters spanning regulatory reporting, producer agency management, product filings, legislative monitoring, audits, financial crime, sanctions, cyber risk and data protection.
It’s a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a fast-moving insurance environment, gaining broad exposure to US insurance regulation while working closely with teams across the global business.
About the role
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Compliance, underwriting, claims and product development, providing practical support on a range of regulatory matters.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Supporting the maintenance of CFC’s insurance and claims adjusting licences across all 50 states, including preparing, coordinating and filing new and renewal licence submissions.
- Monitoring the status of US licences, maintaining accurate internal records and helping to proactively identify and resolve licensing issues.
- Responding to regulatory and internal stakeholder enquiries relating to insurance licensing.
- Supporting the vetting and onboarding of retail and wholesale brokers, alongside the management of producer engagement contracts and agency management processes.
- Providing compliance support for product rate and form filings, including regulatory assessments of admitted product changes and new products.
- Supporting responses to US regulatory communications and enquiries, working closely with the wider CFC Group Compliance team where required.
- Reviewing US marketing materials against relevant advertising and promotional regulations.
- Researching regulatory and business risks and supporting the maintenance of the US office risk register.
- Supporting the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits.
- Keeping up to date with relevant US laws, regulations and regulatory developments.
- Helping to provide timely, commercially focused compliance guidance to underwriters, claims handlers and colleagues across the business.
- Supporting the maintenance of effective US compliance systems, controls, policies and procedures.
- Supporting CFC’s US financial crime and sanctions processes, including the investigation of sanctions matches.
About you
You’ll have experience within Insurance regulatory or compliance work and a strong interest in developing your career across legal and compliance within the market.
You’ll be organised, detail-oriented and comfortable balancing multiple priorities and deadlines. Just as importantly, you’ll take a practical and commercially minded approach, with the confidence to work independently as well as collaborate with stakeholders across the business.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- 2 to 3 years’ regulatory and compliance experience, including experience with insurance regulatory filings and submissions.
- Knowledge of US admitted insurance compliance requirements and an understanding of the wider US regulatory landscape.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and critical deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to communicate professionally with a broad range of stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to work autonomously and deliver detailed, time-sensitive regulatory work with minimal supervision.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher. A relevant discipline such as Law would be beneficial but isn’t essential.
- Legal experience, including drafting or contract review, would be advantageous but isn’t essential.
- Experience working with delegated authorities and an understanding of binding authority agreements would also be beneficial.
