8-week Christmas Contract | People & Culture | Wellways

Looking for a short term opportunity to put your HR expertise to work this Christmas? Join Wellways and play a key role in supporting our People & Culture team to deliver responsive HR advice, maintain employee compliance and keep essential people processes running smoothly over the holiday period.

Working closely with the National Manager P&C Services and the broader People & Culture team, you will provide practical HR support to employees and people leaders while helping ensure our compliance and audit obligations are met.

About the Role

This is a varied, hands-on opportunity for an experienced HR professional who enjoys balancing employee support, compliance and administration. You’ll be a trusted first point of contact for general HR enquiries, helping our people navigate employment conditions, workplace processes and compliance requirements.

  • Respond to general HR enquiries from employees and people leaders, including leave management, employment conditions and interpretation of the SCHADS Award.
  • Provide initial guidance on employee relations and performance management matters, escalating complex issues where appropriate.
  • Monitor and manage the P&C inbox, ensuring enquiries are triaged and responded to promptly.
  • Maintain employee compliance records, conduct file audits and prepare regular compliance reports.
  • Monitor employee compliance renewals and ensure records are maintained across internal systems and external portals.
  • Support the preparation of documentation and responses for audits, legal matters and external requests.
  • Provide general administrative support and contribute to projects and initiatives across the People & Culture team.

About You

You’re organised, approachable and confident working across a broad range of HR and compliance matters. You can manage competing priorities, communicate clearly and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience in human resources, HR advisory, employee relations or compliance administration.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, industrial awards and conditions of employment, ideally including the SCHADS Award.
  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail, particularly when maintaining records and monitoring compliance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a supportive team.

Why Join Wellways?

  • Short-term opportunity: Make a meaningful contribution over an 8 week contract term.
  • Varied and rewarding work: Build on your HR experience across employee support, compliance and administration.
  • Collaborative team: Work alongside an experienced People & Culture team that values teamwork and shared outcomes.
  • Purpose-driven organisation: Be part of Wellways, supporting services that make a positive difference in people's lives and communities.
