About The Role

Photographers are the eyes of our publication, and we're after the people who can make Ghanaian culture look as good on the page as it does at 2 AM on a dance floor in Osu. Some days that means documentary work with a cinematic streak without ever looking staged, and other days it means a lit set, a cover star, and a shot list. Film or digital, studio or street, we care about mood, grit, and instinct more than commercial polish.

Responsibilities

• Photograph assigned concerts, gallery openings, pop-ups, festivals, and after-parties. We handle securing your press pass, you just need to check in with the event organizers on the day and navigate the venue to get the shots.

• Working collaboratively with our mood boards and creative direction to deliver images that fit the publication’s aesthetic.

• Collaborating with talent on set or on location. You must be comfortable giving clear direction to subjects to get the shot.

• Manage post-production and deliver high-resolution, editorial-grade files.

Requirements

• 1+ years of professional experience in photography (editorial, portrait, or documentary).

• A strong background in shooting portraits and human subjects (still-life or purely environmental photography isn't the right fit for this particular role).

• Great working knowledge of manual camera settings, on-set lighting, and flash photography.

• Proficiency in Adobe Lightroom, Capture One, or Photoshop.

• A clear, recognizable style. We lean heavily into editorial and documentary aesthetics, so standard commercial, bridal, or corporate event photography isn't quite what we're after.

Compensation & Rates

As a new independent publication, our budget is limited. We know these stipends won't match a standard commercial day rate, so we want to be upfront about this being a contributor-based role focused on editorial storytelling.

• Editorial Stipends: We provide stipends for commissioned features and event coverage ($50–$100 USD per project depending on scope).

• Expenses Covered: We cover all entry fees, tickets, and production costs for assigned shoots.

• Portfolio Growth: You will receive full creative credit, global visibility, and a space to build a curated editorial portfolio. When paid commissions and larger opportunities open up, our current contributors are the first ones we call.
