Planning and Performance Analyst

At Slater and Gordon, purpose and progress go hand in hand. We're a place for people who want to do meaningful work and make a real impact.

For more than 90 years, we've stood beside people taking on systems, institutions and opponents far bigger than themselves. As a leading personal injury and class actions firm, we use the law to open up access to justice and fight for what's fair, because justice matters.

This isn't a place for standing still. It's a place to do great work, grow your capabilities and be part of something bigger than yourself.

Why join us?

We offer accessible, world-class legal services to people from all backgrounds and socioeconomic circumstances, simplifying the legal process and supporting clients at every step.

You’ll join a small, close-knit Planning and Performance team, with visibility across the business and opportunities to work directly with senior leaders.

At Slater and Gordon, you work towards powerful outcomes every day and have the opportunity to:

  • Build experience across FP&A, commercial finance, board reporting and strategic planning.
  • Partner with practice leaders to understand business performance and turn financial information into useful decisions.
  • Take ownership of processes and build your profile across the business as your experience grows.
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, reporting, modelling and strategic planning.
  • Use AI and automation to improve how finance works, making more time for analysis and insight.
  • Grow your career in a team with a strong track record of promoting from within and regular opportunities to step up for people who perform.

Our commitment to offering a progressive career includes:

  • Genuine hybrid working and flexibility to support different life stages and needs.
  • Structured learning and professional development.
  • Recognition of high performance, including clear progression pathways.
  • Outstanding benefits including paid shutdown leave, 26 weeks of paid parental leave, additional long service leave, and ongoing wellbeing and development initiatives.

What we are looking for
You are someone who:

  • Is ambitious, curious and keen to build a career in commercial finance.
  • Takes ownership, thinks critically and works things through independently, while asking considered questions when needed.
  • Is comfortable challenging assumptions and processes and suggesting better ways of working.
  • Wants to understand the business behind the numbers.
  • Is resilient and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change.

What you will bring
You will bring:

  • Around two to four years’ experience in FP&A, commercial finance or a similar analytical role.
  • Strong Excel and financial modelling skills, with a sound understanding of how the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow connect.
  • Experience using AI tools in your day-to-day work.
  • Confidence communicating with non-finance stakeholders and explaining financial information clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and a habit of checking your work.
  • Experience in professional services will be an advantage. Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning or a similar planning platform, and Power BI, will also be well regarded.
  • CA or CPA qualification, or working towards one, is desirable.
